What a shame. I hate to write this review because I want to love this place. The honest truth is though, the food is absolutely terrible. I have given this place at this point, without exaggeration, 20+ times to get it right. I was told a few times that the cooks were new amongst many other excuses. Every time I order steak medium it literally comes out rare (purple in color). Someone should explain to the cooks that medium is a pink warm center. The baked potato was so over cooked that I had to peel the top layers back to get edible potatoes. So not only does the steak come out wrong but the sides too. Same happens if I order a burger. It comes out so bloody it soaks through the bun. The lasagna was burnt and dry another time, and the list goes on. I have had to switched what I would like to order, to something I think even a moron cook on their first day couldn’t screw up. I am proven wrong every time. I ordered the half nachos and the plate literally came out with 4 soggy chips. It was a manager none the less that brought it out to me as our waitress was busy. Had to send that back too. On my last visit, after I ordered and everything came out disgusting. Neat way under cooked, sides over cooked, and the cup was filthy. When I let the waitress know she has the manager come over. With an attitude and a look on his face he said “Well we could have recooked it for you. I don’t see what the big deal is”. So let me get this straight sir, we’ve been sitting here for 45 minutes. My friend I came to eat with finished already. You want me to order the same food, have the same cooks make it, and wait another 30 minutes for it to come out? Are you serious? If it wasn’t cooked right the first time what would make it come out right this time? As fun as it is to sit and wait for a correction and have my friend wait another 45 minutes bored so I can eat isn’t appealing. Nor did I have the time. I’m not looking for anything for free or a gift card. This is some honest feedback. It would just be nice to order food and have it come out cooked properly. I have given this place at least 2 DOZEN opportunities because I do enjoy the food. The servers are really sweet as well. I just cannot go to this place anymore. 9 out of 10 times I leave hungry and angry. Hopefully, this place can get it together because it’s...
Read more2 STARS FOR THE FOOD ! 4 STAR ONLY FOR THE SERVICE ! Great service! Music bingo is alway a great time thanks RAY! Unfortunately the cook has completely changed the menu and thinks he is a master chef . Witch if he was working at restaurant in the north end of Boston he would do just fine I’m sure. Home plate was always a family friendly pub that weather you were having a date night or going out with your family or friends it was a great time with reasonably priced food and good food . But unfortunately in the last few months I have gone from being a regular customer to a maybe once a month. The food is no longer pub food and the chef has decided that it would be a good idea to put greens (garnish) under chicken tenders and almost every dish that should not have it . nothing like soggy tenders with hot garnish under them. He decided that (half orders) were no longer a good idea . He has got ride of any plan vegetables . One of the mine things we like about home plate is there was a good choice of vegetables whether it was plan corn or carrots. But now its spicy corn or smothered carrot or broccoli. Crazy everything has gone from Amazing pub family friendly food to more fancy upscale . Unfortunately home plate is supposed to be more like a townie family hanging out watching the game with family and friends having a good time! So if your looking for a place to have great pub food or the amazing food they had before it no longer exists here . I’m truly saddened because now when you walk in the face you would always see no long come to eat and drink because of the unwanted change of food and prices difference. So I hope maybe the right person take the time to read this and decide to go back to at least some of...
Read moreI saw thePortuguese Mozambique wings on Facebook. We drove 45 minutes to try them. They were excellent and worth the drive. What wasn’t worth it, was the service we received. We sat at the bar and had a bartender that worked there for 14 years, completely taking her time, just looked over at us and never greeted us as we sat there for a solid five minutes while she did the dishes. When she was done she came over with the menus. I decided to put my order in right away as I knew we would be there for a period of time if that continued. A simple I’ll be right there would of been better than nothing .I was still willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. Then I realized we received no popcorn as I saw them around the bar. I had to call her over and let her know we were ready to order as we still sat there and waited long a second time. Our food arrived and she asked us what sauce we wanted. My husband said blue cheese, which we never received. I wasn’t going to remind her. I felt bad. Maybe she was having a bad day. I even saw a customer sitting across waiting patiently for her to pick up his credit card as he was ready to leave which, she never did. Then I saw him pull cash out and left. The bartender is very comfortable in her position, and does things at her own pace. It’s too bad because of her service sets the tone for the restaurant. We will...
