This will be our third time at the 290 Café in Taylor, the other three times we have had excellent service Excellent care excellent food but this time we had an encounter with Alison and I do have to say she was the worst server we ever had. It was like we had the plague or something. She dropped off the food and never came back to the table to see how we were doing. Walked by multiple multiple times. Finally came back and gave us our check and never said thank you or anything. Do better, Alison. Stopped by on my way through for a club sandwich probably one of the worst clubs I’ve ever had super hard to mess up a sandwich, but I was shocked. The bread was super soggy, which is weird because the food wasn’t ready when I showed up and I ate in the parking lot so no chances for soggy bread instantly felt sick once I got home still not feeling well. Let’s not forget the part where the cook also wasn’t wearing gloves that should have been my first red flag, was so excited to see that they opened a café in Taylor because I absolutely loved the one in Manor. Big spacous dining room, big menu, Only been there once but enjoyed it. I had chicken fried chicken, unusual but delicious breading on the chicken. Made from scratch mashed potatoes and cream gravy. The steamed broccoli was mushy. The coconut cream pie was dense with an unusual texture. Three ladies shared 1 piece of pie and didn't finish it. My friends had the chicken with queso, fried okra, and cabbage. They both said the entre was great and the queso had kick (spicy). We will go again.
