Kern River Ceviche Company — Restaurant in Tehachapi

My husband and I had a fantastic meal at Kern River Ceviche Company. It is the best restaurant we’ve tried within a two-hour radius, and I can’t recommend it enough. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was incredible—the restaurant has such a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately made us feel welcome.

The owner personally greeted us and took the time to explain the menu, which showed their passion for the food and dedication to providing excellent service. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests’ experience.

The food was simply delicious! We tried several dishes, and every single one exceeded our expectations. The Isabella ceviche was fresh and perfectly balanced, the flavorful and generous fajitas were delicious, and the surf and turf tacos were divine. The lobster tail tacos were a real highlight, and the sequoia harvest bowl was beautiful and satisfying.

Don’t miss their aguas frescas either - they’re the perfect complement to the meal and are made with care.

A New Gem Sparkling On The Lake!

I had the rare common sense to try something new and boy, oh boy, did I get lucky! Newly arrived Brian, his wife (And their 3 year-old son) have set up a family shop serving fresh ceviche as well as standard Mexican fare. I was greeted with smiles and hellos and after a little look/see came to the conclusion that it was ceviche for me.

I kind of feel like I won the lottery. The ceviche was amazing. The veggies were fresh, the citrus applied perfectly and the flavor and texture were comparable to ANY 5-star establishment's offering.

Wait. It gets better. Did I mention the fresh green salsa made from perfectly grilled peppers and seasoned with a recipe that should be kept top secret. Hmm. Maybe I shouldn't talk about it.

Truth is, I should probably erase all of this and tell you that it was horrible. I'm gonna be real cranky the next time I go and find out you savages ate everything before I got there. Man, the things I do to be a good member of the community.

So, have you ever gone to a place that has everything 100% right? Well, allow me to share my experience with Kern River Ceveche’ Company. The Ceveche is a perfect balance of flavors! Freshly prepared vegetables, perfect spices, incredible fresh seafood, prepared by owners that pay attention to every detail. Not just Ceveche either, there is a medley of Latin inspired foods. I was offered a bite of newly prepared carne asada, WHAT? My tastebuds were alive with Smokey notes, amazing spices & perfectly tender asada. Burrito or taco, can’t go wrong. They also make a daily variety of frutas fresca. Amazing flavors, Watermelon is my favorite, but try em all. My biggest complaint? My own addiction to eating here. I allow myself the treat once or twice, sometimes three or four times weekly. I so much look forward to Kern River Ceveche’ day, my lots waters just saying the name.
