A party of 14 went to the Pour Haus to celebrate a couples 44 anniversary. Several of us in the party of 14 had been here before and experienced great food and service. Last night was a train wreck! I do want to start by saying our appetizers were wonderful and some of our party’s meal ranged from ok to good. I highly recommend the potato skins and nachos! Here are the concerns we had about our experience It took about 20-30 min to get our water and drinks. One server was responsible for our table. Training is needed for servers on how to serve that many people at least their water. Have one or two people for the restaurant that only does water and as we sit down we at least have water. Our apps came out fairly quickly as did our meals, the issue was the correctiveness. One persons meal the steak was cooked incorrectly and his food was cold. They did bring him another meal which took about 20 to 30 min to get and steak was still cold. Two people ordered loaded baked potatoes and they were served dry and cold. Nothing! We asked for their cheese, butter, and sour cream, which they got about 20 min later. The potatoes were so cold nothing would of melted. Everyone who ordered a steak, the steak was cold and not cooked to order. The ribs were tender but instead of being cooked with the barbecue sauce, it appeared the sauce was poured on it at the last minute with cheap barbecue sauce. When we talked to the female manager she was unapologetic. She listened to our concerns and walked away. Management could of addressed our whole hotel, apologized and tell us how we were going to compensated. Instead our waitress came back and said they had called “headquarters” and could only discount each meal 15%. I felt several meals should of been comped. They did comp one meal. Those of us that had ok meals would of gladly paid full price for our meals. The issue were the folks in our party that had a very bad experience. The 20% tip was already added to the bill since we were a group of 14. So they discounted 15%, but added a 20% tip. I don’t feel too compensated! We do know now that the restaurant is under new management and possible bought out by another company. A friend of ours was told by someone who lives in tell city that the Pour Haus has changed and after our meal on this trip we probably won’t go back. He is right! Finally our guest of honor was also injured! Several folks were sitting around one of the fire pits and for some reason part of the grill fell on her leg and reopened a wound that had just healed. Unfortunately this person has very thin skin and has to go to wound doctors to get things healed. A male manager came out with two tubs of beer which was very nice! They wrapped her up in gauze, which she bled through. He also did not file an incident report, which is a required document for any business. We never saw the male manager again even with all the problems with our meal. A female manager dealt with our meal issue.
Despite all this, we were with great friends and made sure the anniversary couple had a nice evening.
Something has changed at the Pour Haus and it...
Read morePour Haus restaurant used to be a favorite of ours, but our recent visit left us deeply disappointed. The menu prices have increased drastically, which is understandable to some extent due to inflation, but the change seemed excessive. The available menu options were also far more limited than usual.
Our waitress smelled like an overpowered cigarette and after she got our food served, she never came back. My husband ran out of his drink midway and started coughing therefore myself and my children had to give him our drinks since she was no where to be found. Once she came back inside, we watched her walked in, she realized her error and negligence, she then credited almost $16 on our order.
As a person with celiac disease, I'm extremely cautious about my food choices. Unfortunately, my concerns were not taken seriously during our visit. I ordered a taco salad, given the limited affordable options, but it was served in a hard shell bowl. When I asked the waitress if it was corn or wheat before consuming any of it, she said it was corn, but upon double-checking, after my husband told her I had celiac disease and it causes me major issues, she came back and informed us it was wheat.
This is where the real issue arose. When you have celiac disease, it's crucial that there's no cross-contamination or it makes the person very sick, but it appears that my salad was just hastily modified, with the meat transferred from a gluten-containing bowl onto a bed of lettuce. I trusted the restaurant to make this right based on our in-depth description to the waitress of what severe reaction would occur for me with any gluten consumption.
This resulted in severe health issues for me, including extreme gut pain and a horribly upset stomach that started within 1 hour of eating, major swelling to my hands and face (can’t even wear my wedding rings the swelling is so severe), and an all over rash that’s common with a gluten contamination. I ate at home in the morning - so no gluten and this establishment for late lunch, therefore it could have only came from here.
Also, this establishment doesn’t realize they are in Tell City, Indiana. They aren’t in Nashville or some popular major city, literally they are in the middle of no where, and I can find cheaper and better quality food on the Nashville strip than this place can offer. I see management says their supplies have gone up in other reviews, but there are thousands of suppliers and ways to not increase the prices so drastically. You’d think with the lackluster of the reviews here the new management would take this serious enough to find options to restore what this place used to be.
We won't be returning to this restaurant. It's essential for restaurants to prioritize their customers' health and dietary restrictions, especially when throughly explained, and unfortunately, Pour Haus fell short in this regard. Shame...
Read moreUPDATE!!!! UPDATE!!!!!9/27/2023.. well looks like our last visit here. New menu with even less choices. Very few items anymore. Club sandwich was half as thick as it used to be now under this poor management. Wife asked for bacon well done on it, and they screwed that up. I ordered the taco salad. It was terrible. Lettuce in it was nothing but stalks. Ground beef in it hardly had any flavor. Taco Bells salad is 10 times as good at less than half the price. They opened the garage door, and flies were everywhere. You had to cover your food with a napkin. We spoke to a manager before we left and you could tell he didn't care about anything. Shame this place is under new management because the old management ran it much better. If we spend $40+ dollars again it won't be at Pour Haus. It'll be at Fiesta Grande or The Post. Pour Haus needs a new manager whose creative and is concerned about retaining customers. Needs a fresh mind running the place because with the current management it will be soon the "Poor" Haus for them. Old review here..We visit there often. Service is good along with the food. We were told on on our last visit a few days ago that Pour Haus had been sold and is under new management. They now have alot less menu items and have added only a few but nothing spectacular. Prices seem to be a little higher. We ordered the potato skins and they have changed. They're not loaded with bacon liked they used to be or the size they used to be. They used to be loaded with bacon from end to end. They were good but skimpy on toppings as you can see. The club sandwich is still good...even after the hair my wife pulled off of it which the server saw her do and apologized. ..but the club is half the size it used to be under the new management. I ordered the Monte Cristo but instead of french toast I ordered it on texas toast. It was good but they still sprinkled powder sugar on it though. It was a good visit but we wont go as often till the menu...
