So this is how it all went outâŠ.
Me and my father are IASCA Competitors for SQ (in other words, we compete against others for the best quality car stereo) from Upstate New York, and we were giving demos to the public at the Sheraton hotel. It was around lunch time and me and my dad decided on McDonalds, but because our truck was demo-ready, we couldnât leave. So we decided to order delivery through their app. McDonalds uses DoorDash as their delivery service. So we ordered in the app and we got the data for our delivery. But this is where it started to go downhill.
Our delivery driver took way longer than they should have, so we sent him a message and he only spoke Spanish. My dad didnât know any Spanish and I only knew the basics, so I couldnât make a full explanation on our location. But we had our location pinged on the McDonalds app, which was given to the driver. He then says that (with the help of google translate) âIâm using too much gas, Iâm dropping the food on off at the restaurantâ.
It had already been about 1.5 hours and my father was starving. We were under the canopy, covered from the sun since us New Yorkians were used to cooler climate. After calling This McDonaldâs they said that I could send a new DoorDash driver to drop my food off to me, or we could go grab it and they would just remake it. So there I was on the phone with DoorDash, and they say that they cannot send another driver without making a new order, but they could refund me writhing 1-3 business days. It was a Friday⊠so at best we would get our money on Monday. And that also didnât help the fact that we were hungry and we had no choice but to stay here!
So we had no choice but to stay there, no food or drink. It finally got late enough for us to leave and we did. We drove to that McDonaldâs, and I told them I was the one that called. They then proceeded to remake our orders- and boy did they do good to make upâŠthey had the manager serve us our drinks, and the general manager gave us both a free combo breakfast/lunch/dinner of our choice!
Before we got our food however, I noticed someone walk in and look at their phone while standing in front of the pickup counter. He was Mexican (just for context!) and he didnât stop looking at me and my father. So then I asked him âare you here for DoorDash?â And he says âohâŠ.noâŠno Englishâ. Thatâs right, this dude didnât speak English, But he proceeded to grab all 3 DoorDash orders that were on that shelf and sprint out.
So as we were finishing our food and were walking out, I decided I wanted to thank the workers at the kiosk, so I was in line. As I was there, a lady walked in also looking at her phone & in front of the shelf. She was looking for a DoorDash order thatâŠwasnât there. I overheard their conversation about that and they said that it was already taken. Thatâs when I spoke up and said it must have been the same dude that was there a minute ago. And at that point the staff checked the cameras and confirmed it. The lady ended up walking out because she didnât want to wait, and honestly I donât blame her.
So lesson learned! For anyone reading this, thank you first off. And second, do NOT USE DOORDASH IN TAMPA- if you can go out and grab it, GRAB IT. This restaurant handled it so well and I am so thankful that these people here are so chill about it & made it so easy to grab food & head out. Thank you McDonaldâs team, and screw you...

Two, walk to a second machine, ALL I WANT IS TEN NUGGETS, and it is on the build a sandwich screen, I don't want a sandwich I want nuggets. I look through the little windows on the left side of the screen, I settle on the 2 ten piece even though it is twice the food I wanted because I want to eat and get back to my nap. I click on the 2 ten piece item. I get tthrough the ordering sauces portion of the order, type in the little table tent number and pay. Go sit down, listen. They are not calling out the little table tent number , but the content of the order. Why would you make us assign a number to the order if you are going to be too lazy to use it. Or at least use the order number like any other McDonald's. I am from Minnesota I do not understand Floridian Spanglish. After I decider what she is trying to communicate. I get my "order" two boxes of 10 piece chicken nuggets, I look at the tray, I look at my receipt, it says 1 ranch 2 BBQ. I look at the tray, I open the boxes no sauces. How hard can I be. I get in line to talk to people about my sauces, waiting, line moves, waiting. When to my surprise another customer reaches be hind the counter yells across the entire restaurant to ask some one else what kind of sauces they want. She pulls out the little boxes from out of their cubby hole. Somewhere around now I would expect there to be some level of customer service to provide for the customer. Trying not to be so rude I see the ketchup dispenser, I look for the little condiment cups no where in sight. I grab a child size lid press the lever for ketchup, I get nothing try again, nothing, I try the second nozzle, nothing. So, monkey see monkey do as my nuggets are sitting on a table out of my sight, getting cold. So I grab, from what I guess is now the self help area, my...
Read moreHorrible service at the drive through, Iâd have fired the young woman who was running the last window for insubordinate, disrespectful, and lazy behavior towards me and the line of about 15 cars full of customers if she had been my employee. All I asked was for my money back politely because what I had ordered and already paid for was not available. She tells me what Iâm going to take instead, yes TELLS me , and when I insist on my money back she storms off in a child like manner leaving her post and and the 15 or 20 so customers in line at the drive through. After sitting at the window for at least 5-10 minutes I figured she was having a hard time counting the change or something to that effect and I go inside and ask for a manager who was polite but clearly had no control over her staff and tried to make excuses for the behavior of her employee, as Iâm speaking with her the young woman is ranting about how she was not going to deal with the drive through and basically telling her manager that it didnât matter what she was ordered to do. In the end I got my money back and left the chaos that was supposed to be a business and went about my day. This place needs to be completely restaffed from management on down except for the only employee that was actually working, the young man who was sweeping the garbage in the parking lot in the cold rain . He was the only employee that showed class and old school work...
