Jones Barbecue — Restaurant in Temple

We'd been hearing that the food was pretty good and the people were nice, so we stopped in today for lunch for the first time. We got there at 1:15. Walked in and few people looked up (workers and customers), but no one spoke. There were probably 10 tables occupied in the restaurant. EVERY other table had dirty dishes on it (probably 20 tables). We stood there for a minute or so and looked for a clean table in the first room and didn't find one, so we stepped into the second room. Same story there. So we sat at one of the dirty tables. I know for a fact that at least two employees saw us, because we made eye contact. We sat at a dirty table for almost 10 minutes. Not ONCE did anyone say hi, tell us they would be with us in a minute, apologize for the wait, offer to clean the table, or even smile at us....nothing. So we got up and left.

Lousiest experience I've had in a restaurant in a long time. Have never felt so unwelcome in a place in my life.

I worked in the foodservice industry for a long time. I know about it. Maybe they were short-handed, but anyone knows that a "hey y'all, sorry about the mess. We are short-handed today. Pick you a place to sit and I'll have it cleaned off as soon as I can" goes a LONG way. I'd have sat happily and waited. Would have bumped up my tip too (and I already tip heavy). I know it's hard work, and I appreciate that....but when you don't even make an effort to speak to me, I...

4th time going there today, 5/02/22 Ordered wings medium sauce. Came out with no sauce. Ordered a basket of fries, got a side order of a few fries. Waitress came by to check on us when we were done eating. When I commented on the portion of fries, no apology, she just laughed and said " Its lunch time, they get silly in the kitchen". Well, I don't like to pay for "silly", I like to pay for what I order. We liked Jefferson's, too, but stopped going there because of inconsistencies in the servings. Looks like we will have to find another place again due to inconsistencies. Can't seem to find good food and good service...

I stopped eating BBQ about 6 years ago because I couldn't find good BBQ. I moved to Bremen about 2 years ago and decided to try Jones BBQ. There food is a MUST TRY. You will never be disappointed. Not only is the food fulfilling, delicious, and made with so much care.. the staff is amazing. They are personable, attentive, authentic, and just kind hearted people. The southern hospitality energy is very present in this establishment. I try my best to eat there at least 2-3 times a month if not more. I'm craving there BBQ constantly. I will never stop raving about this wonderful reasturant and its staff. But hey, don't just take my word for it... GO TRY there...
