McDonald’s — Restaurant in Temple

Stopped at the McDonald’s just off I-35, right across from Buc-ee’s north of Temple. 🛣️ First thing I noticed—this is a very modern McDonald’s ✨. The design is sleek, minimal, and far from the busy, poster-filled McDonald’s of years past. The dining room is extremely clean 🧼, and the whole place runs like a well-oiled machine ⚙️.

Seating is very limited 🪑, but with most orders coming from Uber Eats 🚗, Ticket2Go 📱, and mobile pickups, that seems intentional. The restaurant isn’t fully cashless yet 💵—the kiosks accepted cash, bills, and change—but I can easily see it going fully cashless soon, even with options for cryptocurrency 💰 payments. A dining room attendant 👩‍🍳 was available the entire time I was there, extremely helpful, pleasant, and professional 😄.

The counter was super efficient ⚡, with dedicated shelves for mobile and delivery orders 📦, and even a separate late-night pickup entry 🌙. Parking was convenient 🚗, especially for those grabbing mobile orders. No clutter, no signs everywhere, just a clean, organized, modern setup 🏢.

Outside, traffic can be a bit hectic—honking is part of the soundtrack 📢—but once inside, everything is smooth and futuristic for a McDonald’s 🤖.

The employees were so nice and friendly. However there were some other things that brought the rating down for me.

I went today specifically for the Grand Opening that I saw advertised on Facebook. Upon arrival we were given a flyer showing certain food specials for the Grand Opening. We tried to order one of the special deals on the kiosk and with an employee at the counter but neither one could ring up the discount. So we ended up paying full price for individual items and could have gotten a better deal in the app.

Fries were good. Chicken nuggets were not as tasty or crispy as the last McNuggets I had elsewhere.

Another thing I did not like is that there's no soda machine in the lobby for refills. And when I asked the employees to refill they gave me a new cup, lid, and straw each time. This is very wasteful and not good for the environment. Plus, I like mixing fun drinks like Powerade & Sprite. But when the employees fill it in back, their machines don't have the option of a partial drink, just the pre-set sizes. So no fun drinks.

Lastly, it is nice, new, and super clean. But the interior is small. The tables feel tiny and cramped together. The one large table has short cylinder seats. It's curious that there are so many parking spots when there isn't space for so many...

I've been here 3 times the first time hot food great service. The 2nd time I ordered food but the other drive thru side is where your order shows up so you can't see the price or your order on the side you order I let staff know. The cheese burger looked like someone squeezed and was cold no napkins no straw milk shake was melted. The 3rd time I ordered chicken nuggets they weren't even warm the order sign still screwed up let the staff know again they are lazy preparing food early that sits there. I thought this one would be better than Troy's but this franchise owner like Troy aren't watching the staff it's never that busy so no excuse for luke warm food.
