The Croad Inn is a special place in Paso wine country. The views go for miles across the vineyards, the rooms are a luxurious respite in which to rest after a âhardâ day of wine tastings đ, and the owners and team are accommodating to every request. We had the good fortune to participate in the end of harvest wine pressing and see the investment put into each wine varietal. Martin Croad is a delightful Kiwi who continues to try new ways to improve his wine, never content to rest on his already high status quo: and the Wine is great!!! We visited Turley, Opolo, Calchareous, Linne Calodo, Clos Selene among many others, and are happy to say that Martin/Team have it Going On! Their Mourvèdre and Zinfandels rival the finest wines weâve encountered. Although Martin wonât stop at just single grapes: he also has some exciting combinations of the above plus Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet where you get a unique intense celebration of each grapeâs characteristics brought to the party! At the end of each day, we âfinishedâ our dayâs tastings with a million dollar view hosted by two of the most delightful vineyard hosts weâve had the pleasure to meet: Julia and Jenna. The whole Team at Croad bring Martin and his wife Pattiâs passion and joie de cuvĂŠe to life!!!|Thanks to our Croad...
Read moreA friend highly recommended that my husband and I visit Croad and we were absolutely enchanted and delighted. We were on our first visit to the area and so didn't realize that to get a wine tasting any where you had to plan ahead, we thought we would just drive up and check out Croad and arrived very last minute. But Mr. Croad (Martin) and Julie welcomed us with open arms and big smiles and sat us down to enjoy absolutely lovely wines and incredible information delivered with joy and pleasure. The setting was lovely -- it felt as if we were back in Italy or Spain. AND the grapes are grown "dry" -- I am not that intelligent about wine growing but it sounded so environmentally friendly as well as very interesting for the taste of the wine. Coolio! We would love to go back and stay at the Inn or bring the whole family to stay in one of the guest houses. We have such pleasant memories of our evening at Croad and will remember it with hopes of soon returning, as we enjoy the lovely wines we purchased...
Read morePHENOMENAL!!! The views of the vineyards and surrounding hillsides are beautiful. We only stayed for one night but will absolutely be coming back. The owner, Martin (sp?) and Deena (sp?), are unbelievably friendly and cordial.
They offer mostly red wines, zinfandel being at the heart of their offerings, but have others for those who favor whites and more fruity types (try the Viognier!).
The rooms at the Inn are thoughtfully appointed and exceeded my expectations. The common area includes a large sitting/living room with a fireplace (I am watching Monday Night Football while the fire is getting up to speed). It is relaxing and very quiet.
If you are staying here (and you should) pick up some nice cheese, crackers, and prosciutto in nearby Paso Robles and hunker down for the evening. You will enjoy it!
PS: say hi to Bricks...
