Ganns Pit Stop BBQ — Restaurant in Tennessee

While on a long drive I found this place on a lucky spin of Google (restaurants near me) & decided to give it a try. That was the absolute best decision I’ve made all year! The food is AMAZING! It’s what real, true, how-your-grandmother-made-it, Southern-style home cooking is supposed to be! I could smell it smoking when I pulled into the parking lot. I honestly cannot say enough good about this place! It’s a taste of home that wipes all the chain joints off the map. The people in this city must not know what a gem of a restaurant they have or there would have been no place to park! I often review when something is above the top- in this case, it is off the chain- a home run outa the park- & the best damn BBQ I think I’ve EVER had the pleasure of eating. Do not be put off by the small older facade of the building-it’s clean & welcoming & what’s inside is a blast of delicious old-home cooking that u won’t ever b able to forget. Wow! A+++++++++ Just incredible- ribs, pulled pork,fried catfish were all exceptional! Can’t wait for my return trip so I can try the chicken & dumplings! So sad to say that our first time trying is definitely our last!! We smell the food everytime we go next door to the tobacco shop. And my husband was like let's try it finally. He buys a big family pack. And let me just say it was rancid. The Cole slaw...how can u destroy coleslaw...well they did. It was dry and was straight sour. Then the meat wasn't that great...sorry it really wasn't great but the sauce could've saved it.......but omg the sauce was disgusting absolutely disgusting! Our dog wouldn't eat it. I'm not being rude or joking. Our dog wouldn't touch this food. Potato salad was ok. But we literally spent over 50$ just to trash it. Couldn't even feed the dog with it. Maybe a bad day for the cook? It's really upsetting how good that place smells but how disgusting the food was. I am literally not a mean person. I promise. I hate doing this to a small local business. But...

I come from the Lexington NC area which is known as the BBQ capitol of the world and was not expecting to much when I saw this place but thought I'd give it a try as I have not found any BBQ in Tennessee that I like. Now I live in Morristown TN and it's a 30 mile drive to this place. The first bite I take of this BBQ and I was in heaven. This just might be the best BBQ I have ever eaten. Where I come from this is more of a pulled than chopped style because the NC chopped is fine chopped. I believe I like this pulled style much more than the fine chopped style. I wished I had bought more than 1 pound so I don't have to drive over there so often but as good as this BBQ is it is well worth the drive.
