I never leave reviews, but I am compelled to now. Food was OK. Steak was ordered medium and was given more than well done, but I did not complain. Atmosphere was OK, typical country crafts style. Our dark-haired waitress was very sweet and did a great job. However, the scowling long-haired hostess/cashier was foul enough to warrant a review. After items were left out of my party’s to go order, we were made to feel like a nuisance for asking for the fruit bread that was supposed to be included. The woman lied, saying she had included additional servings of fruit in its place, which she did not compared to multiple other visits/orders of the same dish. When she provided the bread, she was vindictive, providing an obviously smaller portion from the heel than is typical with that meal. The restaurant was not busy at the time; she was simply angered that we had the audacity to politely ask for what we had ordered and paid for based on its menu description. She wanted to ensure that we knew it. I ignored her scowling when we entered. I ignored her rudeness when dropping off dessert for our waitress, as if she was inconvenienced and angered that she had to get up from her stool. But the rudeness when asked to correct the order was over the line. Others in my party may return, but I will not. The quality of the food is not high enough to overlook poor customer service. If the customer is rude, it is more understandable, but at no point were we rude or complaining; we simply asked if we could have the slice of fruit bread that the menu said would be included. In a town with other options for “meat and three” plates, the drive here and the prices are simply not worth it. It is...
Read moreFirst time visiting the Gathering was greeted by the host upon entering with eye contact. I expressed this was our first visit there, and then she came around the counter and brought the menus and seated us. The food was not the greatest. The steak and gravy was bland. The gravy had a good taste, but there was no salt and pepper seasoning or any other seasoning to the meat; the mashed potatoes had too much salt, and the macaroni and cheese was good but lacked salt and pepper. When we got ready to leave and pay, I handed the debit card to the host and she said it's cash only. I said well, I did not know that. She said oh there's a sign right here. Well first of all I did not see the sign because it was on the front of the counter, and when I walked in I made eye contact with her and walked up to the side of the counter. Therefore, they should make that cash only sign more visible like on a easel standing on the counter when you walk in and can see it. Furthermore, possibly put it on each menu so that the customer will know that it's cash only. The waitress was wonderful, but we will not go back due to the food not being the best and I almost felt like the host scolded me telling me well, "the sign was right there for cash only". It wasn't in plain sight when it was on the side, and I walked in and made eye contact...
Read moreSalad was great but the steak and gravy was pretty bad. Think potted meat without all the sodium as it had NO seasoning. It was also cold in the middle. They took it off our bill, said nothing about my mother in law who also got the same thing. They were frequent fliers but after the manager told my father in law that we were taking the left overs home to eat (we were giving to the chickens and cats) we decided to leave those behind. That’s wild to accuse people and I literally told the waitress it’s fine, stuff happens, not a big deal. I was even stating I would definitely come back because our waitress was super nice and my in laws raved about the food and said they’ve never had anything they didn’t like up until this point. That opinion of mine changed as soon as I overheard this manager telling my father in law that.
It was how the manager handled it and what he said which was completely uncalled for. Rude and...
