After some of the reviews, I was hesitant to come here, but Missy raved about the place - especially since we had her little dog, Honey. That’s why we sat outside on the patio. It was a little cool, but we dressed warmly. Missy ordered the mandarin orange cake first, since it usually sells out quickly. Then she ordered the chicken and dumplings - special for the day and her favorite. Her sides were mashed potatoes & pinto beans. I had the hamburger, medium, and their creamy cole slaw. Husband had popcorn shrimp, with corn and fried onion rings. The service was excellent. Everything came out quickly: hot if it should have been hot and cold if it should have been cold. All was excellent and reasonably priced. We had snacked on the cake before our food came, and we three finished it for dessert. We now know why this place is one of Missy’s favorites, and if we lived here, it would be our favorite, too!

We had an Airbnb close by. Our first night, we stopped in for dinner. Our waitress was very nice and made a few menu suggestions and helped answer our questions. Our food came out quickly. The buffalo chips are delicious, and I can see how they can be addicting. Their meatloaf was the best my husband has ever had at a diner. I ordered the chicken fried steak, and it was cooked perfectly with very good flavor. We came back for breakfast a few days later, and I'm so happy that we did. It was Mother's Day, so it was very busy. We had to wait a little longer for our food, but well worth the wait. The service here is just impeccable! The bacon is cooked perfectly with lots of flavor. It's definitely not the microwavable bacon that I've had in some diners. I highly recommend this diner.

If you have no clue where to go when visiting this area, look no farther than Janice's Diner. We were staying at a campground only a few minutes away from this restaurant and decided to give it a shot, and boy are we glad we did. The servers where so incredibly kind, but not only that the prices are so insanely low for a sit down restaurant. Most plates are around $6-8 and the portions are absolutely massive for the price! We had breakfast here and got more than we could eat, and the food was hot and fresh! We didn't even have to wait more than 5 minutes for our food after we placed our order. This was faster than some fast food restaurants I have visited by far and in a much more inviting space.

Food was soooo good!!! Everything was absolutely awesome!!! Great service and great food!!!

UPDATE!!!

After being frequent customers for over 15 years now, we've always had nothing but great things to say about this little place, but that's changing really fast!!! Over the last 6 months, it seems every time we call we either don't get any answer at all when we call to see if they're open or not, or we have to call several times back to back and let it literally ring off the hook before someone answers the phone. But we have to call every single time, because we have gone all the way out there (we live over 25 minutes out from there) 4 times now, only to get there and they not even be open, during what should be normal business hours. We've always been alright with having pretty outrageous wait times for our food because we know this place stays pretty busy, and we understand that it takes time to take care of a lot of people. But it's getting absolutely ridiculous, and today might be the last straw!!! After being snowed in for the last couple of days, it's finally safe enough to get out and get stocked back up LoL but we were really looking forward to a good hot breakfast. But nope!!! They again either aren't even open or aren't answering the phone, again. This is the only place to get food for a pretty big area, so without a trip into town, we aren't getting breakfast today!!! Even the most loyal customers will get tired after so much, and I think that's where we're at. Was a great place with great food for a very long time but the last year or more has been terrible. They stay so busy that they really don't seem to care if they lose customers or not,...

Looks can be deceiving. Gees. I just moved to the area. I’m from Tennessee. I thought it would be nice to move out to Cosby. I have driven past this place many times and seen it busy so I thought the usual “this must really be a nice place to eat.” Boy was I wrong. Mid at best.

Had the house omelet with white toast and shredded hash browns. (from a bag). Not done. Home fries ( from a bag) frozen from the package. (Burnt) Omelet was warm inside , cold on top. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I normally would say something, but there was really nobody in there. I was so confused as to why it was taking so long. This was early in the morning and it wasn’t busy , and it also took 35 minutes to get my food. I just took it as a loss. I did tip the normal 20% but felt like I was getting robbed.

All hype and no bang. I really wanted to like this place. But it’s okay. Tourists will say “it’s the best they ever had”. Locally? My own home cooking will always top this. Guess I’ll be making my own breakfast from now on. This place isn’t it for me , but for someone else they may love it. It’s just not for me. Also, just so you know if you use your credit card they’re gonna charge you an extra $1.50. If it’s over $50 dollars…it’s gonna be $2.50. so you best pay with cash if you don’t wanna pay that extra fee, however you wanna do it that’s up to you. As with most places in the area the credit card machine companies have to get their piece of the pie too. It’s also dark inside. Sorta like a hole in the wall ? Not sure. Anyways. Love it or leave it it’s up to...

Update: I can only assume ownership has changed. The portions are smaller, the prices went up 30% since our last visit here, the men's room is "out of order" which is not good at a place where you eat. This place used to be incredible and we always referred the tourists here. My wife's chicken was served barely a tad bit warm and tasted weird. The gravy did not taste or look like it used to. Even the rolls used to be made on site, but now are tiny little store bought rolls that tasted as though they had been frozen and then microwaved. These are things that customers notice. We were there for lunch and it was empty. It's usually crowded. I can only assume people are having the same experience and words is getting out. I know that inflation is hurting everyone, but don't drive your business into the ground. You raised prices, lowered quality, and we're paying more for less food. Businesses make these changes and then cry when they have to close. You are doing it to yourself! We were regulars, but will probably not be back. This was honestly our favorite place to eat prior to this. Bring back the previous owners, or at least learn from them. Best of luck to you

This is the best place to eat in tennessee by far. If you blink you will miss it. Well worth the stop and the prices are seriously...
