I read many good reviews about this place online but it was a disappointment and let me tell you why.
On a rainy day, I decided to have some “authentic” Chinese food because as a Chinese decedent growing up eating Chinese food, I wanted to have some good heart warming food to remind me of home.
I ordered Dan Dan noodles hoping it was just like the Dan Dan noodles I had in the past back home. I also ordered a side order of wanton soup and fried dumplings.
My wanton soup arrived on my table and I was very hopeful but I was very quickly disappointed by it. The soup was warm but the wanton was ice cold. My dumplingS came and it was decent but not amazing. Looking back, the dumplings were the only thing that was remotely good.
My main entree came and I was immediately turned off by how uninviting it was. Plus it was not the Dan Dan noodles that I was accustomed to. The noodles are obviously from packet ramen and the whole dish was very salty. I told the waitress to inform the chef of my concerns and a white male who I assume was the manager came out to talk to me. While explaining to him what my concerns were and he was trying to tell me that The Dan Dan noodles was a special Japanese ramen. But no, Dan Dan noodles is definitely not Japanese, nor i was in a Japanese restaurant.
The last point I’m going to make is the price point. It’s definitely not worth paying $20+ for a single person meal that definitely did not live up to the “great” reviews online. And please do not say it’s “authentic” Chinese food when it’s not...
Read moreI was really excited to happen on a new Asian restaurant when my GPS took me on an unfamiliar route a few weeks ago. I couldn't wait to try it - especially after reading a few reviews. I had planned on going to catch up with an old employer, but he had to cancel. To my dismay, he ended up being the lucky one. I was greeted promptly & seated promptly. The restaurant appeared clean & well maintained. My server was friendly & provided information about dishes when asked. I decided on the spring rolls & stir fried tofu. The spring rolls were quite generous in size. They were piping hot & wonderfully crispy. Problem was the flavor. The only thing I could taste & smell while eating them was GARLIC! I really couldn't detect any other flavors. I had been wondering the purpose of the shrimp sauce that was brought to the table & I tried it on the spring rolls & it somewhat cut the garlic & made them at least edible. The entree was a different story. There was NO saving it. It was totally, completely & entirely inundated with SALT!!! The fried rice was the same. I took 3 or 4 bites of each & left. The plates were barely touched, but there was nothing I could do - there at the restaurant or taking it home - to get rid of the salt. I was so disappointed in the food & so confused about the reviews I read. Maybe the regular chef was out for New Years Eve or just had a bad day. Either way, I'm sorry I didn't have the great experience so many others have & I won't...
Read moreThe entree I ordered (Mongolian beef) was quite tasty albeit somewhat different from your usual . It was extremely fresh tasting and the slices carrots instead of the usual scallions was a nice but unexpected change from the norm. The sauce was very light tasting but very flavorful. The fried rice was a little lacking in my opinion. It didn't have any peas, carrots or egg like most fried rice you get other places. I like those ingredients in my fried rice. The egg roll was very tasty and I love egg rolls so that was a bonus. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the overall cleanliness of the place. I work in the service sector and have been in numerous local restaurants and have pretty good size list of ones that I won't eat at due to cleanliness issues. I haven't seen the kitchen here but if it's as clean as what the rest of the restaurant appears to be I'll have to say that this is the cleanest place in town. Overall a good experience. I got my food to go so I can't comment on service and this was my first visit as they are closed on the days we would most likely go and closed by the time we usually eat supper. Honestly just a fluke that I got to try...
