I never ever write reviews but this time I have to say something. Breakfast is my favorite meal to go out to eat. It is a lot of work at home and too much effort in the morning, so I can tell you I know what a good breakfast place is all about! It’s all about the potatoes! I ordered a three egg omelette at Pop’s place which comes with your choice of potatoes. I ordered hash browns! Big Mistake! When my breakfast plate was delivered my table, it’s smelled really bad, like the hash browns where sitting on the grill all morning soaking in grease and burnt to beyond crisp. I could not believe they would actually expect anyone to eat them! The smell coming from my plate turned my stomach! The omelette was fine, coffee was fine, service was ok but pop’s has no idea how to prepare and cook hash browns or what they should actually look like. Let me say, we were excited to learn that Pop’s place reopened. We drove from Erwin Tn to eat there again. 4 years ago we would eat there every chance we would get! So Pop’s if you ever get to read this place check out how to make great hash browns. They should be light brown crispy on the out side and light and fluffy on the inside. Pop’s it what you don’t know that kills you in this business and I am hear to tell you your hash browns need work. How...
Read morePersonally I have passed this place 6 days a week for over 2 year's for work. Today I took time out of my busy schedule to try Pop's Place and I'm glad I did. The service was amazing with smiles on everyone's faces front to back with Victor cooking. The restaurant I think has 8-9 tables at best. The menu was more than I expected on options and delighted to see. I had breakfast with eggs country ham and hash browns and toast and it was delicious. I will be back for lunch to get the fried bologna sandwich yes a southern favorite. I would recommend anyone who passes this place to stop in for breakfast or lunch as they close at 230pm. It will be worth it I can assure you. I have been in the restaurant business for 40 years it's always a treat to find a new hole in a wall place that has this many wonderful things about...
Read moreMy husband and I were stuck in Chuckey TN due to the damage of Hurricane Helene. We went a day & half only eating non-perishable items aka junk food because everything was closed & we had nowhere to stay. We came across Pop’s place and it was a full house! Only one person cooking and one person serving tables. They were amazing!!!! Not only did they do a great job serving & giving delicious food, but we heard them tell guests who didn’t have cash (since they weren’t able to take cards due to the storm) to just pay it forward. Their being open & serving food was a blessing, especially for people who didn’t have a home during the craziness. I hope their kindness to their community & strangers gets the notice...
