Charlie's Pub & Grub — Restaurant in Terre Haute

I've put off this review for far too long. Charlie's is one of our favorite places and bars to go to in Terre Haute. Everything about this place is fantastic. Their food is absolutely fantastic and is some of the best I've had in TH, the service is great and responsive, and it always has a great vibe. I got their wings for the first time last night and they are definitely slept on (as mentioned in the menu). They were all a good size, meat was the perfect amount of falling off the bone, and the sauce was delicious. I could have used a bit more sauce on the buffalo but that was a very minor detail and their signature dry rub was fantastic. Definitely a lot better than any of the chain restaurants. I usually get the Tweety burger and this thing is probably one of the best if not the best burger in TH. It is fantastic every single time. One of the only issues that consistently comes up is there is not that many places to sit because it's usually so packed! However, during the warmer months of the year this is not an issue due to the back patio being open and literally doubling capacity. We lived how there was so many things to do instead of just sit and eat! They had board games, pool, and even an outside lounge area with its own bar! The waitresses were friendly but she always seemed to be rushing and we could barely get a word in when we needed anything because she was so rushed with the amount of people there. Even though it was so crowded, the waitress never once seemed like she was over whelmed! The drinks were amazing, tasty and exactly as described! My sister had ordered a salad and asked what was all on it and the waitress missed a couple of the items that comes in the salad, like the bacon, which my sister can not have! At first it seemed like they wouldn't take it back and give us a new one but they did eventually. We also ordered the sampler as our appetizer and I wouldnt suggest it. It had a little of everything but it mainly comes with a bunch of chips and tater tots and only 2 mozzie sticks and 2 jalapeno poppers.... The service was disappointing. We had a server Monday evening that brought our food out say she couldn’t get us a refill on a Diet Pepsi. We’d need to talk to our waitress. The problem with that is that it typically was 10-15 minutes in between interactions with our waitress. Also our waitress forgot to put our carry out order in that we placed with our order we ate. After bringing all these issues to the owners attention again Tuesday morning his initial response was disappointing. I will say I’ve always wanted to support local businesses and being from a family that ran their own business Cheyne(owner) with the help of his wife did step up to provide further clarification of the situation Monday evening and offered a refund in subsequent correspondence. I do believe he’s going to make things right when there is an issue and everyone should be given a second chance.
