I have dine at the LB for about 8 mths and today was my 1st complaint on the quality of my food and my service (1) my salad wasn't fresh, alot of withered leaves not cold(2) it came out with food. Sweet meat loaf(really) (3 )I got another dish baked chicken that looked like it had come off of some one else's plate. It was awful experience and my last. It's seems like they only want a particular kind of people in the facility. Did I mention the food wasn't very hot, but other people's food was so hot that I notice them blowing their food. The management or owner were present and didn't have the decency to come and hear complaint, someone in the kitchen staff had said that they would give a free meal for next visit and I sit for an hour while other employees kept staring and looking at me and my wife like we had stole something and one of them finally comes over and rudely say their is nothing that they can do and the owner speaks through third person, the kitchen cooks isn't the same and the food tells the truth.....no one will eat in an establishment where you are made to feel uncomfortable, and when they brought our food a very old lady smelling like a cigarette ashtray talking over the food and while calling out the order number, over an 8 month period of dining and enjoying the food. Not ever was there ever a problem. But when there is its like it " no one else complain" I was told but it didn't happen to any others, I counted 7 more tables that Whatever the dish was it came out piping hot, our food didn't reach our table steaming hot, it was lukewarm. the owner or managers it's obvious that you didn't care enough to speak to us about the matter, we are both retired, USN and school educator, you dropped the ball on this...
Read moreSo the wife and I were looking for a different place to eat in Texarkana on our day of taking care of business. We had heard about this place before, but had been told by some it was meh. But we wanted to try it and after looking at their menu options and the price, we were pleasantly surprised how reasonable it was. So we traveled to this little diner and gave it a try. We were very pleased. The place looks like your old ma and pa little dives. And that's what I love. We were greeted by the nicest (but very vocal) lady. She was a hoot. We went on a Monday so we got the Monday specials. My wife got the Chicken Spaghetti and I got the Chicken Fried Steak. The specials come with potatoes and gravy, green beans and a salad, as well as a dessert options (which they have plenty of). The meal also included a drink for under $12. I will say the Chicken Fried Steak could have had more salt and might not have been as tender as I would have liked (which is why I can't give 5 stars, but it's closer to 4.5). But my wife's chicken spaghetti was excellent. The service was quick and friendly. I loved the paintings on the wall with their positive messages and I loved the antique rack with all the older items. Overall it was a good experience and we will be back. I will say it can get busy very quick and there is not a ton of seating so get there early. But either way give this place a try. You...
Read moreMy wife and I were going to eat. They asked where I would like to go eat. I said I wanted just plain ole good "Merkin" food. Not from a pretend to be chain store either. My geandson said, "I know just the place." We arrived at The Lunch Box. On sight I had questions, but onward we went. Rustic might be the description. Once inside, the place was packed. Today's menu was on a board behind the register. You could choose meats, after picking your meat, the sides are all order of the day. The staff was excellent and attentive. The food was served quickly, and hot. It was not mama's cooking, but mama would have liked to eat there. That good! Now get this! $9.00 tax included, with salad and dessert thrown in. Listen, if you live in Texarkana and like good home cooking, you have to try The...
