If I could do half star then it would be three and a half but I'm not trying to be unfair with my opinion so I'll just put it at a four. Used to love this place when they first opened up it was amazing. But here lately it just seems like the food isn't the same quality. I am all for supporting small businesses so when I call to let them know that the chicken spaghetti was literally noodles sitting in a watery cheese sauce with a couple pieces of chicken and that it wasn't right that they were serving this to people because it had no flavor instead of being like okay thank you I appreciate the information I got well what do you want me to do do you want to come back and have us replace it or what? No I do not feel like driving back up there, I'm not asking for my money back, so don't understand why I felt like I was being argued with instead of just stopping and listening to your customers and fixing the problem. I was told the sauce would thicken over time, that they just opened up and that it was freshly made. But like I explained to the lady who got on the phone and said she was a manager I have never had chicken spaghetti that was served in a bowl with an airtight lid that you could turn sideways and physically see the sauce run to the corner, completely separating from the rest of the noodles, but then put the mashed potatoes and gravy and macaroni and cheese in a separate styrofoam container, It was more like a cheesy flavored chicken and noodle soup. After a few minutes a back and forth with her she starts relaying the message to someone else in the background and says hold on he wants to talk to you and at this point I just hung up. I usually get the meatloaf but decided to try something different this time since lately it seems to be loaded with more onions and celery. Not saying that I won't be going back but I will think twice about it before I do. Hopefully next time it will be a five star again. The first picture was taken after almost a 10 minute drive and the second picture was about 15 minutes after the first one so needless to say it didn't thicken but I will give credit for a...
Read moreI had such high hopes for this place, but it is obviously not what it used to be. Sunday, Mother's Day, was my first time trying the food. I ordered chicken and dressing, greens, purple hull peas, and meatloaf mac and cheese and cabbage.
The restaurant is drive through only.
There were several things wrong with our meals. The food was Luke warm. It was NOt hot at all! None of ot was hot. The chicken and dressing had barely any chicken, nor was it served with a piece of chicken. The onion and celery were cut too big and were still crunchy. Honestly, the flavors were just off. The sage was way overpowering, and I like sage. It was the worst "chicken" and dressing I have ever had at a restaurant! The greens were not seasoned well nor had they cooked down enough. The purple hull peas were not seasoned nor were they cooked enough either. They were still too firm. The cabbage was passable, but needed more seasoning. I asked for cornbread for each meal, but only received 1 piece of cornbread. The macaroni and cheese was edible, but they need a new recipe. The cornbread was probably the best part of this meal. It is made with white cornmeal, and was balanced. Not too sweet! The meatloaf was cold and needed more seasoning, and it had on off flavor as well. The veggies in it were crunchy as well.
I am not sure if the same people are cooking as the reviews I read raved about. The meals we got were less than passable and a complete waste of our money on Mother's Day. It is as if they rushed the food, and just really did not test the quality of ot before serving it.
If you are looking for excellent homestyle cooking, then Dixie Diner, Prepping to Live, and Mother Kelley's are the local places to stick with. You can't go wrong with either of the three mentioned above!
Please steer clear of Off the Fire. It will be a big...
Read moreI was excited to see this place open again after being out of the area and it being closed for covid. I was disappointed to see that where drive-through only you can't be inside anymore. I called because the first time I went there. There was no sign it was even still in business. But the guy on the phone was defensive in saying that he would have to raise the prices a lot more if he opened it back up inside . I didn't even ask him about that I was just trying to see when they were open and if it was drive-through only. So when I got there and went to the window there's a handwritten menu that's a bit difficult to read and understand.
So I'm trying to make my order but the young man at the window was very impatient even though we were the only customer they had. He would stop every so often and rub his face and eyes out of frustration that we were taking too long to order. We got the food and took it home to eat. And it just wasn't anywhere near the quality and flavors that it used to be. It honestly just wasn't very good. And that's a shame because it was so good before. And they were so friendly previously.bad we will likely never give them...
