This is an updated review of prior great review. Speaking on behalf of myself & my hubby, we believe the menu is in great need of revamping with some fresh & creative options. While they are at it, they might take a refresher in plating. Sorry! Cafe on the Green has evolved into a place we end up mostly by default but rarely by desire for the food. Sad but true! While we have had some really good meals here, it has been a LONG while that they consistently performed & put out an entire table of great food. I expect more here. I so want you to be great, Cafe on the Green!! I want to spend my dining dollars here. I want to support my local hangout. But I think I may be done. IMO, it has been hit or miss 100% for at least a year...probably more. I would like to give kudos to the staff though as they are always friendly & inviting--which makes the disappointing meals less impactful! But in all honety, I can't count the number of sad & uninspired plates I (& numerous family members & friends) have been served here. We have (all) been customers for well over a decade and while the food is usually "ok," it is rarely great & never exceptional. Most recently, I had the macadamia chicken strips as an entree (...again....as nothing else really jumped out at me). This item used to be fantastic!! What happened?!! The strips used to be a signature item that were lightly crispy & tossed (not drowned) in a spicy, sweet sauce. During this visit, while the restaurant was cheerfully staffed for a busy night, we were a party of 4 at 1 of 3 tables being served. In other words, the kitchen had plenty of time to "master" our meal preparation. Unfortunately but not surprisingly, my chicken was, for the 3rd time in 3 visits, soggy & on this occasion was barely over room temp, tasted & appeared almost as if it were reheated in a microwave. The onion straws were great although they needed a bit more attention to blotting the oil off prior to plating. My plate was partially afloat in grease. Appetizing! When orering, I attempted to inquire about a "new" item on the menu, pork wings. Upon asking our server what pork wings were, she responded matter of factly that they were "pork wings!" But I proclaimed, "pigs don't have wings!" Her response, "oh yeah. I don't know." LOL The other guests at our table said their food was "good". Cafe on the Green, please understand "good" is just not enough! When we dine and bring our guests here, we want great meals! Not okay meals. We want to be dazzled by your presentation of our freshly prepared food. Step it up!! Wow us with your food knowledge and creativity. If you can't creativley expand the menu, then please excel in creatively plating your regular menu faves. Make our plate beautiful with fab sides (not sad) sides. We want to...
Read moreWas pretty disappointed. Selected this place for my birthday yesterday. Alligator bites over cooked. Queso was pretty good but hardly enough chips. Hard to find the server for a refill although there was only 1 other table. Poor service. Ahi Tuna dinner was a disaster. Not seasoned with a lump of white rice with a splash of soy sauce on it and a pile of pineapple. Filet, just ok. Menu (which was a plastic laminated place mat) mentioned white bean and corn succotash which was in fact some zucchini and squash with gravy? Asked the waitress “how is the bean and corn succotash?” “Oh its good”. No clue. Pinot Grigio was hard to swallow. New Orleans pasta was seemingly enjoyed by 2 of us. $170 for 4....
Read moreThis 1 star is not for the service or the food that is a 5+. It was for the large group of guests came in after my family and I were seated for dinner at 530 tonight. There was this one man seated directly behind me.who was so loud. He made sure not only the peole at his table heard what he had to say but the others seated in the resturant. My family had to lean to forward to speak to one another. I taped loud mouth on his shoulder when leaving and suggested the next time he should reserve the private room so the others around him could eat quietly. He pointed to the man next to him and said he is the owner he reserved the table. Well to the owner SHAME ON YOU! We went...
