After reading all the mixed reviews, I decided to at least give it a try. The hubby and I went for an early Saturday dinner, around 5pm. Our server was attentive without being overly intrusive. Our drinks were regularly filled and we were checked on occasionally. I ordered the rib eye with sauteed zucchini and yellow squash and the smashed potato casserole. Hubby ordered the chicken fried steak with corn and fries. My steak arrived exactly as I ordered, medium well. It was flavorful and moist. The squash was lightly seasoned and well cooked, but not too soft. The potatoes were a little less than I expected. They were basically homemade smashed potatoes with a bit of peel left in. Not bad, but I thought it would have other ingredients included. If I had know this, I would have asked for some white gravy on top. Hubby's CFS was great! Really home cooked style instead of some frozen reheated yuck. The gravy perfectly complimented without drowning the steak and breading taste. Fries were real potatoes that hadn't been processed, but fry size and not steak fries. That's not a bad thing, just a description for reference. We both tried dessert. Fried cheesecake for him. Peach cobbler for myself. Peach cobbler was not listed on the menu, but I overheard someone talking about it. The fried cheesecake was tasty, rich and enough for two. The peach cobbler was different than what I am used to. Instead of having a regular crust or dumpling type topping, it was more of a cake like addition to the peaches. Once again, none of these comments are meant to be negative, just descriptive. Over all, our experience was great! Our meals were about $60 including beverages (teas) and desserts. I don't think that this was too expensive seeing that they are the only steakhouse (or restaurant) in that area as far as I know. The meals were large enough to justify the prices, too. We...
Read moreWell, already hearing that this place wasn’t that great, we decided to give it a try! And we should have listened to the friends that told us so. For starters we got the sample platter that included the potato skins and the bottoms of them were all burnt. We sent all of those back with the dish. But come to find out the manager didn’t think they were burnt so never came to talk to us or say anything. My husband then got the prime rib on a Sunday afternoon, which was two days old for them, $30 dollar prime rib came out ice cold and a little over cooked to his rare liking when it came back out. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich, which I’m always a fan of everywhere I go, but the chicken was chewy and hard to eat. Not to mention the macaroni and cheese was not to die for like the waitress talked up. All of our dishes basically had all the food left on the plate and the owner never made an appearance to our table. Our bill being 80 bucks and seeing no owner, or discount for any of the horrible food we had was pretty sad. No we’re not just looking to go to places to complain and get a discount, if the owner would have come apologized for the food and not given us a discount we would have been happy. But never seeing them mad our decision of not returning there so much easier. Best of luck to you if you give them a shot, in my opinion it’s not worth the money and we...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped in for lunch. I had thought of ordering the a bowl of Vegetable Soup as an entree, but opted for the Hamburger Steak. I did order the Vegetable Soup as a side. The soup was brought out first. It was nothing but broth. There were no vegetables in it. The broth had a good flavor, but since there were no vegetables in it, I asked the server if she might take it back and instead add green beans as a side to my order. She first said she would check in the back and see if there would do that, but then said she was sure they would change it out. She said, "there are usually a few vegetables in it." Glad I didn't order it as my entree! My wife ordered the Grilled Salmon. We both had mashed potatoes. We both had the green beans. My hamburger steak had gravy and grilled onions on top which gave the blah hamburger patty some taste. The mashed potatoes were tasteless and had a consistency of instant potatoes. My wife and I both thought the green beans were not cooked long enough. My wife said her Salmon was just average in taste. The atmosphere is OK, nothing special. This was the second time my wife and I have tried this place. The first time wasn't great either, so we will not be back a third time. I see from reviews that some people enjoy dinging here. Great!...
