This was the worst time I have ever experienced as a foodie. I simply write this as an experience and not a “dining” experience because I did not even get to dine. First, I walked through the door and noticed all the carefully placed social distancing signage and designations. This provided me with the comfort of knowing they are interested in my health as well as the health of others. Then, the hostess took me around the corner to a crowded dining area in one section of a large room with other areas closed off. The sparse amount of patrons there could have shook hands with the next table. (Please note that this was added for the benefit of everyone; even though COVID vaccines are now available.) So, the hostess sat me at a booth and told me someone would be right with me. I saw a waitress walk towards me, then do a 360 and disappear into the kitchen or backroom area. Keep in mind she made NO eye contact with me as a patron. Then, I saw a young man who was waiting tables go up to two different tables and ask those diners if they were good. As he was walking by my table and my anticipation building to sample their seafood offerings, I was let down. He found it more important to bus the booth adjacent to where I was sitting. Now, I believe a clean dining room shows your customers you care. However, I expected him to greet me in some way as he bused the table. Nope! No way! Just like his co-worker, I was non-existent, and he made no eye-contact with me. I sat patiently to give them a chance as they looked frantic about what they were doing. Keep in mind, my drink order and food order still have not been taken. I went to the salad / bean bar and served my self a helping of each. I went and sat down then noticed two other parties who entered the restaurant after me being accommodated with drinks and some food. This was disappointing and the icing on the cake, especially after having been dismissed by wait staff a combination of five times. I went to the hostess and asked for the manager. She disappeared then came back and asked me for my ticket to which I told her I was never served. I cheerfully looked the manager in the face and told her it was my first time at DB’s to which she joyfully expressed her gratitude. Then, I told her that it is my last and as she frowned, I told her what happened. In the end, there are several great seafood establishments throughout TX, but this place would do better to just close their doors. So everyone, do your family, yourself and your pocketbook a favor, do not waste your precious resources on this place. Go...
Read moreMy husband and I ate here for lunch and unfortunately it was nothing what we expected after hearing from local residents about how "good the food is." The salad bar was convenient considering how long it took for the food order to come out. However, it was a mess. The food bins were mixed with other foods from people using the same utensils to serve their entire salad bar selection. As well as lack of supervision, instructions or directions to walking around the food bar to self serve instead of reaching and serving over the divided bins. There was little to no maintenance of it other than to fill/restock the food bins. When that was being done I watched the employee only top off the bins instead of servicing them to clean out the crossed foods. As a positive, there was quite a selection of "salads" to choose from. Unfortunately the presentation and maintenance of them were poor. When the food order arrived it was hardly edible. A pool of grease was at the bottom of the basket plate and every piece of food that was at the bottom, just sitting in the grease, had a steady drip of grease coming out of it when picked up. We had to select from the top and still soak the grease off of each piece with a napkin. The fish did have an odor and foul taste to it as well. Not as fresh and clean of a fish as we expected considering the compliments from local residents. On a good note: The hush puppies were AMAZING! When our waitress was informed about the excessive grease and shown how bad it was her comment was to only apologize for the inconvenience and asked if we would like a to-go-box for the left overs. Politely we declined, paid our ticket and left. We love to travel and have eaten at many All you can eat buffets of catfish and other seafoods. Sadly this one left us with a bad taste and...
Read moreI seriously don’t know what happened to this place. It was our favorite place to visit on Friday nights. Over the last year it has gotten worse and worse with each visit. I understand that restaurants are having a hard time staffing but tonight’s visit was horrible. We went in know exactly what the 4 of us would be ordering and told the girl sitting us that we all wanted the salad bar and sweet teas. Easy enough. We did this because this whole year we go in and wait 30 minutes or more to even have someone take our drink order. Everything at the salad bar was watered down if the container wasn’t empty. There was barely any beans in the container. The girl who waited on us seemed a little overwhelmed. When we went to pay at the register there was one girl kinda sweeping at the waiting area, she had her phone in one hand looking at it while holding the broom. She laid the broom down then walked right passed us, eyes in her phone the whole time. She went and stood at the table with the 2 female employees( this table is right at the register btw) she finally looked up and noticed us and said something to one of the other girls. The girl Teresa got up came to the register with a sigh and an eye roll. We needed the check split into 2. She had an attitude about that. Rolling her eyes again. I miss understood the total she said because she wasn’t speaking clearly. I repeated what I thought she had said and she rudely told me what the correct total was. We have been waiting a few weeks between visits hoping it would return to the place it used to be.This was the last time. The bathrooms were filthy and not stocked as well as many dirty tables so yes it was kinda our fault for not leaving before we...
