Review of Huddle House: A Disappointing and Unsettling ExperienceâŚ.
Upon entering Huddle House, I was initially impressed by the clean and well-maintained appearance of the restaurant. It looked fairly nice, suggesting a pleasant dining experience ahead. However, the experience took a strange turn almost immediately, setting a tone of discomfort that persisted throughout our visit.
Despite being open until 10 PM, the restaurant was eerily empty, with chairs placed atop tables as if preparing to close. This seemed odd and unwelcoming. The staff, instead of attending to potential customers or preparing for a busy period, were sitting in booths engrossed in their phones, texting away.
Our server's behavior was the first significant red flag. He was not only strange and off-putting but also highly discouraging about the menu options, making us reluctant to dine there. When my companion asked for a recommendation, the server couldn't provide an answer. Instead, he laughed audibly when my friend ordered the stuffed hash browns, dismissing the choice as strange. This lack of professionalism and tact was unsettling.
Throughout our meal, the waiter continued to make odd jokes that only served to make us more uncomfortable. At one point, he returned to our table with his phone and played a comedy skit mocking my friend for not ordering anything initially. This bizarre behavior crossed the line from unprofessional to outright disrespectful.
When it came to my order, the server didn't bother to ask about all the options or clarify any details. He simply made assumptions, which, given his previous behavior, I didn't feel inclined to correct. The food, when it arrived, was mediocre at best, failing to compensate for the unpleasant service.
Adding to the discomfort, the waiter took personal phone calls within earshot of our table, discussing sensitive topics such as people living in his house with HIV and concerns about transmission through saliva and blood. This was highly inappropriate and further spoiled our dining experience.
Getting his attention to request the check required considerable effort, as he seemed more absorbed in his personal matters than attending to customers. By this point, we had lost our appetites and left our food unfinished. The entire experience left us eager to leave as quickly as possible.
In conclusion, my visit to Huddle House was deeply disappointing and unsettling. The staff's unprofessional behavior, coupled with mediocre food, made for a regrettable dining experience. I cannot imagine returning to this establishment and would caution others to consider their options carefully before dining here. We was seated down then asked what is it that we wanted to drink. We ordered our drinks, they were delivered. We was drinking our drinks then we ordered our food with the same waitress. We sat there for about a half an hour and hadnât received our meal yet. But meanwhile three to four couples / customers came in after us . We was sitting there then the waitress came back to us to verify our order because she forgot. We reordered our meal with her again after sitting there and waiting 45 minutes. Meanwhile the other three to four couples that came after us received there meals / order and we still havenât received ours yet. Well! About an hour went by and we still havenât received our order yet but we had finished our drinks. Meanwhile all of the other couples / customers were eat there meals that they had ordered and we still hadnât gotten our order yet. So! Here it is an hour later and we still havenât gotten our meal. So! We waved the host down ask her what was happening and going on and she said that she will check. Then after talking to the host our waitress came back over and said that she was sorry but she needs to take our order over again for the third time. But what I donât understand is that there was no Manager there in charge to super what was happening to us. There were two cooks, one hostess and one waitress.. the waitress said that she was sorry and the host said she was sorry but we hadnât still gotten our meal. We got up to leave and pay for our drinks and no one came to check us out. The waitress said we can leave from behind the kitchen counter across the restaurant and that we didnât have to pay for our drinks. So! After an whole hour we got no food and no explanation. I wanted to talk to the Manager but no one came forward to speak to us. So! We just left but I think we didnât get served because I was the only black person in the restaurant even doe the hostess and waitress both was light skin black girl. We ordered online and drove to pick up our order but the doors were locked although the open sign was on. I saw a young lady mopping so I waited by the door and she spotted me and came to the door. I told her I was here to pick up my online order. She said they closed at 8, so the cooks were gone and she couldnât make my order but I can request a refund online. (Order placed around 8:20, it was about 8:45) I asked her how to request a refund, she said she didnât have the app so she didnât know, but I could come back the next day and show my receipt and they could remake it. I didnât use an app to order fyi.
Like other reviews say, it didnât seem like a manager was there, and her response seemed very rehearsed like she had said it plenty of times before. Although she had a nice demeanor, it was super frustrating and inconsiderate.
My family was starving and we were about an hour for home, and like I said, almost 9 when most things are already closed. We had to plan another meal, with the $60 payment still pending in my account. I would have appreciated at least a call to let us know that our order would not be made. Our drive to the restaurant took 20 minutes.
This morning I checked my account and the payment was completed! The hours on here were confirmed a few weeks ago, but I read reviews from a few months ago that stated this exact situation happened to them and there was a response from the owner that the restaurant would fix this issue.
