Junction Cafe 11 S Cage Blvd, Pharr, TX 78577 Total Spent: About $25 to $30 per family.
This morning we ventured off to find a place to have breakfast with the family. We had our sights sent on El Rancho Grande Mexican Restaurant and Cantina but the wait was 45 to 1hr and we had some very hungry people. We headed out to Junction Cafe.
Because we where a large party we got sat in their back area. It took about 10 minutes for our waitress to acknowledge us and get our drink orders. Unfortunately another 15 minutes to actually get our drink order to the table. It was at this time the waitress took our food order. We all ordered basic dishes. Nothing to outrageous. I think the most complicated dish was chilaquiles con pollo. Unfortunately we did not all get our dishes at the same time. We got them in waves and my son drew the short end of the stick and was served at the very end after most of us finished our meals. His meal was 2 potato egg tacos with a side of beans. Super simple to make and it took the longest to get to the table.
Our dishes where somewhat well served for the money. My biscuits and gravy with sausage where good. Presentation was good. My wife had the migas locas which is migas with chrizo. She said it was ok. My brother in law had The Trucker Plate. To much bell pepper, not enough meat. My niece had the menudo. She really liked it. Big chunks. Tasty. My sister in law had the Barbacoa Plate. She didn't think it was good. Too much fat. Not enough for two tacos. It does make a good lite breakfest however. My nephew had chilaquiles con pollo. The runny sause made his tortillas too soft when he made tacos. However the cheese and pollo where good.
The major down fall of this experience was the long wait for our meals. It could have been that they where under staffed or the fact that there was too many people... however why would it take almost 20 minutes to serve 2 potato and egg tacos?
Our waitress was in a great mood; smiled. She did her best under the...
Read moreMy first One Star restaurant. Don’t be fooled my my pictures. Food was somewhat bland for what we consider Mexican breakfast. My mom said that their refried beans did not taste authentic. The decor is superb! I absolutely go crazy with historical artifacts. This place is full of railroad and trains theme- hence the name.... Service: atrocious! They display a sign on the wall explaining some baloney about taking a long time to serve you because of their quality food-etc... But, while we wait for our food, the server should come to our table and offer more water or coffee. I had to wave down my server to ask for more coffee. She then brings her ‘ihop method’ carafe and simpy places it at the center of our table. I guess I’ll have to serve myself... We went for brunch on Easter Sunday. Perhaps their excuse for having us and those folks next to us wait 45 minutes to be served bland food was in fact that they were extremely busy due to it being a holiday. I’ll say to the manager, plan accordingly and call...
Read moreFor the first time ever the experience my family and i received was horrible. The young women greeting at the front door had an attitude and for that reason we left. I understand some places have have reserved areas butbwhen we are already seated after the fact she said we could sit any where. She came to the table and asked we get up and move to another table, that it was already taken. The restaurant was practically empty so i asked where esle we could sit? cause apparently we couldn't just sit anywhere. She looked at us and said anywhere but there! I know my business that day will not affect the revenue the place brings in. But teaching staff on hospitality (this one in particular) and how to be more professional in her etiquette towards customers would be appreciated. My best regards to the owners and staff like i said before fisrt time ever. Enjoy and Good bless.
