We booked the party room at Mikey’s last month for my daughter’s birthday and at first, it seemed to be a good spot. However, things went downhill shortly after. Upon arrival, we learned the A/C had not been turned on to start cooling the room before guests arrival, the restroom inside the party room had not been cleaned; in fact, the whole room hadn’t been cleaned properly. There were dead bugs and cobwebs in every corner and the floors were a mess. We did what we could to clean what should’ve been cleaned before we were scheduled to arrive and continued on decorating for our party.
We asked the food be ready at 11:45am but it was not brought out on time. The food that was brought out wasn’t everything we ordered so there wasn’t even enough food for our guests to start serving themselves. Before our party date, we asked Dawn (the woman who books the parties) how the food will be kept warm and she assured us heating trays will be used for the duration of our party. However, this was not communicated to the party host so they were not set up prior to bringing out the food. She blatantly told us Dawn did not tell her. This delayed the food set up even more.
One of the biggest issues we had was the fact there was not enough staff scheduled. Our party host was the only one there and only one cook. The party host was having to work our party and run the bar/restaurant that was still open to the public. Of course we don’t expect them to close to the public simply because they have parties booked, but at the very least there should be enough staff scheduled to run both parties and the restaurant. We understood there was a much larger party that was going on later in the afternoon that more staff was scheduled for but smaller parties shouldn’t get brushed over.
Overall, we enjoyed the food and had a good time. We just wish our party and the venue had been more organized. It was not fair to neither us or the poor party host who was handling so much on her own due to poor scheduling and lack of communication.
During the party we called Dawn to express our concerns, especially on the lack of staffing. We also reached out to the owner of the establishment to express our concerns but he has not returned our calls despite it already being over a month since the party. The lack of communication speaks volumes about how much they value...
Read moreWe decided to try Mi Casa Tamales and were immediately excited by the scenery, the amenities, and the overall environment. This was our first visit, so I inquired about the seating with a member of the wait staff. A waitress instructed us to sit wherever we like and stated that someone would be with us shortly.
About ten minutes or so passed and no one came to our table. Although Mi Casa was busy, it was not packed. There were empty tables, about three wait staff, a bar tender and a manager. Assuming that we would be attended to shortly, we decided to ask for a menu from the bar tender to browse while we were waiting. Soon after, I noticed that another group of patrons sat at table across from us. I was surprised to see that a few minutes after the group sat, they were attended to by them same waitress who instructed us to see anywhere we like. The waitress provided full service to the newly seated group and still paid us no attention.
About 20 to 25 minutes had passed, so we got up to inquire about speaking with the manager. While waiting for the manager to speak with us, the waitress set her tray on the newly abandoned table to attend to others; she did not even acknowledge that there was now an empty table. Finally, the manger came and I explained the situation to him. His only response was that “he hoped we would visit them again.” He did not offer to seat us and ensure that we received immediate service. The whole event made us feel very awkward and unwelcome. I can say without a doubt that I won’t be...
Read moreHaving been re-branded now for about a month, decided to try Mikey's. Overall a positive experience. Had the chicken deluxe sandwich with fries and hamburger with sweet potato fries. Both sandwiches were fine. The price (which includes basic fries) is within the normal range for the area (though a bit at the top of that range), but they do charge extra for sauces which seems somewhat strange. Fries were on par with other similar establishments. As with the previous incarnation, indoor seating is very limited (any party greater than 2 will most likely have to sit outside whether you want to or not), and this might be an issue on hot days. They do have outdoor fans, but those can also cause trouble by blowing food around. The outdoor area is excellent for bringing families or having large groups. Service was excellent and friendly and wait time was not bad. Once they expand their menu and increase the number of days they are open (management told us to expect this in the next month or two), things should take off. We will certainly come back again once the menu and open...
