I would rate Old Oak Taphouse lower than one star if that were an option. My experience at this establishment left much to be desired. From the outset, the service was considerably slow; we waited 30 minutes before our table was acknowledged, and when we did receive attention, the staff seemed somewhat inconvenienced. It took an additional 45 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and when our food finally came, it was cold, undercooked, and not up to the expected standards.
Additionally, despite claims of being family-friendly, the atmosphere did not reflect this. The staff appeared visibly irritated by noise from a child at a nearby table and, instead of addressing the situation calmly, they exchanged disapproving looks with the parents. The family was enjoying a game of Jenga, yet the staff seemed concerned that it would damage the already worn tables. At one point, the manager asked the family, who were not being particularly loud, to lower their volume, citing that they were becoming busy, while there were only three occupied tables. Furthermore, the staff behind the bar were overheard discussing the family, seemingly unaware of how their comments might be perceived.
The management's response to our concerns was particularly unsatisfactory. After expressing our dissatisfaction about the food and service, the manager dismissed our feedback with a smirk and an eye roll, which made us feel as though the issue was with us rather than the service we received. I would recommend considering other dining options over Old Oak Taphouse, as there are many establishments that prioritize customer service and provide a more enjoyable dining experience. This establishment clearly has significant room for improvement.
I would rate them 1 star or 5 trash cans for...
Read moreAt the end of night the bartender though it would be cute to threaten me with a forced 20% tip because HE opened a tab on my behalf when I only ordered two drinks. I never intended to open a tab and he had already given me my card back. I can’t close a tab I don’t know about. This was after he already gave me grief for ordering a drink he didn’t think very highly of. As if he was the one drinking it. I don’t think he expected me to give the attitude right back to him at which point he got upset and told me to leave (I was already leaving and the place was closing 🤦‍♂️ ).
Sad part is I was there for a celebration of life for a good friend who died just a couple days before. The whole place was full of grieving people just trying to remember a loved one. I wasn’t in the mood for the attitude at all and I hate to think he treated other folks the same way. Whatever happened to shutting your mouth and just doing your job? Only other low point is they ran out of food and stopped people from ordering an hour into the event. Final bill was $15 for two canned beers and a couple of hot glasses. Sad experience all the way around.
You can train someone to be a bartender/server but you can never train someone to be a better...
Read moreWe've been four times in the last year and have always enjoyed ourselves. The food is good, drinks and service are great. Today we were the only patrons for over two hours (got there around 1) and stayed till around 6:30. We recommended this place and met our closest friends here in the middle of College Station and Conroe. We've met the owners a couple times and today were told "the bartender is worried about over serving". We're in our 40s and at 6pm have never, at any point, been told that we've been over served. I'm currently writing this 10 minutes after leaving so if you think this review is from someone that's been over served I welcome your opinions. Most of the people that showed up around 5 were in their 60's and unsurprisingly weren't drinking. I wish the owners all the best but clearly their priority isn't customer satisfaction (or...
