Visiting granbury for the week, solo riding with my 2 toddler as husband had to stay in Dallas to take care of house repairs. Everyone we met suggested this place. Let me tell you my experience. I walked in with both toddlers, and the staff assumed right away we know what to do. It’s not a typically sit down restaurant and order. You order first and they give you a buzzer that you need to go get the food yourself once it’s ready.
After ordering, toddlers and I settle at the table and kids go play with other child in the grassy area. I see everyone with drink and I’m thinking a Marguarita would be nice while kids are playing. There is staff member walking through to pick up tables but they won’t take your drink order. You have to go to the bar. I’m by MYSELF with both toddlers. So if I really want a drink, I have to take both kids from playing to go get one. So I decided not to get any.
Buzzer rings, so I have to go get the food. I have to carry both toddler with me. I arrive and the guy behind the kitchen counter gives me 3 plates. I’m trying to think how can I carry all this solo. My youngest toddler is refusing to walk. I have to ask myself if they have trays available, there is a lady with a pink staff member shirt by the door arm cross looking but NEVER offers to help. I have to ask myself, I heard there is chips available, guy point to this bins that is NOT LABEL chips and not the most obvious things. Trying to handle both kids and get all the salsa and things I need on the tray. I’m finally ready to go. My youngest toddler still doesn’t want to walk. I have the tray full of item and I’m really struggling to find out I have to open a door to get to the table.
That same pink shirt staff lady still looking her arm cross and does NOT move… I had to ask her myself to help and open the door and she looked very annoyed about it.
I have traveled to many places and I am 99% of the time solo with both toddler and I have to say that this was the worse experience ever. Staff was terrible.
Kids wanted ice cream and I decided to go elsewhere to get them ice cream after dinner since beside picking up table staff member...
Read moreI CANNOT say enough good about this place! We were in Granbury for medical reasons... the news we got saddened me. It was lunch time, and the drive home was 2 hours, so we researched the available restaurants. When I saw that Stumpy's was on the water, I knew immediately that I wanted to try it. I LOVE ANY TIME NEAR THE WATER! The first impression was, "It's a bit rustic... but it IS on the water, I hope the food is ok." (remember that I was saddened by the m.d.) When you enter the front door, you have available a type of store to enjoy, but I was there to eat. We placed our order and were given a buzzer to let us know when our order was ready. Then we went to find where we wanted to sit. It was a gorgeous day, so we went outside, and as far away and out on the water as we could go. We were able to sit WAY out on what could have been a dock for fishing!! I WAS THRILLED!! I had the feeling that I was on VACATION!! WATER AND FOOD... THE PERFECT COMBINATION!! I was AMAZED by how quiet it was... no loud boat noises to ruin the atmosphere! Nearby, we could enjoy a host of ducks and geese who were obviously there to enjoy us! The water was clear enough to see the enormous catfish teeming under the ducks! Most amazing was that there was NO SMELL coming from this combination! We were enjoying ourselves so much that almost too soon the buzzer told us our food was ready. OH MY GOODNESS!! I HAVENT TASTED SHRIMP THIS GOOD SINCE 1976 WHEN WE ATE IN Corpus Christi!! It not only tasted WONDERFUL, but there was PLENTY OF IT!! I ENJOYED MY VACATION THAT BEGAN THE MINUTE WE ENTERED Stumpy's, and ended the moment we left!! I will probably eat there every time I can from now on. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND STUMPY'S... the food, the place, the people, ESPECIALLY THE WATER, AND THE DUCKS THAT CAME...
Read moreStumpys is a unique restaurant with a new surprise around every corner. When you first walk in, you walk into their store and then can see the counter where you can order food and drinks. The staff was friendly and speedy as the line was long, but they moved people through quickly. After you order you are given a buzzer and then you can go find a table. On the way to the tables, you walk by their sweet shack where the smell of fresh baked cookies and waffle cones make sure you'll come by after your meal for a sweet treat. Seating is available in two inside areas and an outdoor patio right off of the lake. Once your buzzer goes off, you go to the window and pick up your food, and then behind you is a condiment and topping bar. Free chips and salsa are also available here. The food was good. I will say my husband's fried catfish was better than my grilled shrimp poboy, mostly due to the seasoning on the shrimp being very salty and overpowering. We both agreed that the Chipotle tartar sauce was phenomenal, and their fresh cut fries were delicious. After our meal, we headed to the sweet shack for sowm ice cream, cup cakes, and pup cakes. The ice cream is Bluebell, so you can't go wrong, and their cupcake flavors are great. Good selection, but I will say their frosting is super sweet, so if you're someone like myself who doesn't have the biggest sweet tooth, you might want to try a cookie or other sweet treat. Our dogs thoroughly enjoyed...
