The staff is consistently condescending even though I have been there 6 times in the last 3 months as it on route to our place in above the Klickitat River as we drive in from Portland. The first time I had a delicious vegan bread slice and wet cappuccino. Delicious but the server was short, order took over 15 mins which I contributed to the amount of customers and limited staff (2 people). Then a following time the chef/barista(female) was not polite rapidly repeating the order yelling"hot or cold"and not nice and then abruptly changes her tone when fishing for a tip and the square kiosk. She even got me to apologize and my husband couldn't believe how rude she was..On a prior visit I even bought a jar of pistachio butter for about $17+ and granola with ginger (yum) for over $15 from the commissary items and yet they don't seem to care about customers who are willing to spend more or come back and repeat business. On other recent times the food has gotten progressively worse. I tried egg sandwich was very dry and egg overdone(hard boiled). The scones were average without much flavor . The majority of the pastries have walnuts without much regard for walnut allergic people. The vegan bread never came back on the menu. I did have a savory spinach puff pastry but the experience was nullified as the male barista advised me on "how I should make my coffee order" and he also said "He could speak to me in detail on how I could make my ordering better..." If you are in the service industry you should at least be nice and not snooty to the customers. The Confluence Cafe could use some kindness towards their customers....and not think they are better than...
Read moreBeautiful views abound from this Columbia River Gorge scenic spot. The interior is comfortable and trendy with lots of wood used for walls, floors and furniture, while the wine is superb owning that Domaine Pouillon, a Columbia Gorge winery, has a tasting room there. The vibe was warm and inviting as were the servers and other staff who circulated checking in on you. The menu selection is a bit limited (salads and cheese boards, coffee and pastries); we each chose to get the sandwich special of tri tip beef with blue cheese and arugula for lunch ($18). My sandwich was tasty, yet was full of fat and gristle, however my husband’s sandwich was perfect. The four of us split a bottle of 2019 Fleur De Lyle, Double Gold Medal - Seattle Wine Awards, May 2023, which was excellent. We enjoyed our time while we ate watching the kite boarders and wing foilers fly along the water while trains...
Read moreWhat a hidden gem right on the Columbia River! I stopped in and was blown away by the scenic views and the incredibly cozy atmosphere—the kind of place you want to linger a while.
I ordered the Meatloaf Sliders and the Confluence Muffin, and both were absolutely packed with flavor. Everything tasted fresh and made with care, and the quality really came through in every bite.
Matt, the owner, was incredibly friendly and personable—like chatting with someone who really knows and loves the area. It added a great personal touch to the whole experience.
Also, don’t skip the fresh coffee—perfectly brewed and the ideal way to start your morning in the Gorge.
Whether you’re road-tripping through or a local looking for your new favorite spot, this café is the real...
