Mack's Catering Service — Restaurant in Thompson

I booked this vendor over a year before our wedding. We had an in person tasting and thought it went really well. Talked details about location, timing, china choices ect. and put down a $500 deposit. We had MULTIPLE meetings since over the phone to fine tune details. Each time I asked if there was anything I needed to look out for or if they had any questions for me. They always told me everything was all set and that there were no questions from their end. Fast forward one month before the wedding… I contact Mack’s Catering to check in to make sure everything is all set. On this call I’m told that they FORGOT to put our wedding on their calendar. Then they booked two other weddings on the same day after we had already secured the deposit over a year ago. (I know this because when we had the initial meeting I asked if anyone else was booked for our date and they said we were the only ones). We had so many meetings and I mentioned each time the date to make sure nothing got lost in translation. This is completely inexcusable as a professional catering company.

The scariest thing is, if I hadn’t called in to check in, I would have arrived to my wedding and there would have been no catering at all. If I didn’t check in, I would have had 125 unfed guests and the event would have been ruined.

Mack’s Catering offered us the following options: We find someone else to cater and send us back the deposit They can bring some food but we would need to rent equipment for them including dishes, glasses, etc. Option 2 was not possible for us with how booked every rental service was at this point. I was broken up about it. This was a complete nightmare. They were very cold considering the amount of emotional turmoil this caused us. Catering for me, was one of the pillars of the event. I was devastated and desperate at this point.

So now I’m a month out, I have no caterer and everyone else is either booked or has upped their pricing. I lost $10,000 to fix their mess up. There was only one caterer who could assist us at this point. We were out of options. Luckily, the caterer I got saved the day with their good food. And I told them about the situation and they comforted me and told me in all their years in the wedding business that they have, and I quote, “never heard of such a terrible situation with catering.” Everyone I told about this responded similarly.

(Don’t worry about me, the wedding itself was absolutely perfect. Dream wedding!)

I’m just posting this to warn other couples. I hope no one has to go through what we went through with...

When my fiance and i had to change our plans from our original venue to a backyard wedding and our original food provider did not feel comfortable doing a backyard wedding, we were disappointed; however, once we called Kaila at Mack's, all of the worry just washed away. From the first discussion, Kaila put us at ease and really listened and understood what we were looking for and offered creative suggestions, knowing my fiance and I are foodies, to say the least!

The week of the wedding, another curve ball was thrown our way as Hurricane Isiais knocked out our power and trashed the yard that we had worked so hard to create for our wedding day! Despite the fact that it had nothing to do with catering or food, Kaila checked in and offered to help in any way possible- incredible service!

The day of the wedding, the food and the service offered by the Mack's team was top notch! All of our guests raved about our options! Everything was delicious, even the Quinoa salad- who raves about Quinoa salad at a wedding? If it's as good as Mack's- everyone! Our vegetarians and meat eaters were equally as happy and we could not have been more grateful!

Yesterday was my parents 40th wedding anniversary. We ordered from their hot and cold buffet options, which we chose to have delivered, but without any serving staff or sterno. The food we ordered was delivered on time, and piping hot and so delicious. I highly recommend this company based on so many factors, not just the taste and the prompt delivery. I was so fortunate to book Mack's, for their reasonable costs, their quality food, and their kindness. Each interaction I had with Jamie was professional and personable. She responded quickly and helped guide me through the entire process. The delivery was exactly at the right time, and the food was set up as I requested. They had huge aluminum trays, doubled up, very hot and fresh. Wore gloves, uncovered the food for me, and helped me get everything ready. Also asked if there was anything else I would need. Very good. I highly recommend the chicken broccoli alfredo. Two types of rolls and butter provided. Huge salads. massive lasagna. Infact, 2 trays. We will def use Mack's again and I still swear that Mack's has the very best fish n chip dinner I...
