The Flying Cow is one of the hidden gems on its way to becoming one the best places in the whole city of Houston. There are many factors to consider when talking about what makes a great burger such as: buns, cheese, sauces, meat, seasoning, even the placement order of the items . This is where The flying cow has excelled because it has meticulously crafted each menu item to be the best possible version. Of Course a good recipe can only take you so far without good ingredients and here is the main reason you should try the flying cow. Wagyu beef is popular around the world because of its superior eating quality compared with other breeds of cattle. Not only does wagyu beef have higher levels of intra-muscular fat or marbling but the meat texture is finer, resulting in a more flavoursome eating experience. So when you visit the flying cow your not just getting the best meat in the world but you're also getting genuine farm to table experience, the flying cow is located in front of the very farm were they source their meats. Out of all the burgers places in the city there no other place that can rival how fresh, high quality grade meat and amazing taste in its food. What other restaurant can say they have a wagyu beef and the very same wagyu farm in front of them?
The experience was good, the staff was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu items, the food items are customizable upon request like adding queso, fried egg, etc. The presentation of the food was also amazing, I couldn't believe the care that went into each time I ordered food from here, since its on my way home i've been doing take out lately and when i get there to pick up my food they check the items in front of me and make sure I have everything before heading out. The Decor is nice and fun and spacious environment they have plenty of tvs and seating and great for large groups and families, plenty of parking out front as well. I feel like i can't stop on how amazing this place is, but I highly recommend you visit this place before everyone knows about it, its a true hidden gem that deserves plenty of visits because each item on the...
Read moreThis update is maybe our 13th visit; but we've still not quite become regulars. Not crowded last visits at 1:30 on a Saturday or at 5:30-6:30 PM on a Sunday. On one Saturday (the Labor Day weekend) at 1 PM it was packed. This is not exactly a basic burger joint; all the beef served is Waygu. The prices are no longer good, and are now much more than similar sized portions at places like 5Guys, not to mention fast food restaurants. The burgers and two other items we've tried are great. Good home-style French fries, skin on, salted and peppered, but not as salty as McD's. Onion rings were frozen (bad), but surprisingly good (go figure), but probably won't ever order them again. Serve yourself fountain drinks (so free refills). Highlight is the beef: so tasty, and fresh. Four flavors/styles of tea, including green and sweet. The Mushroom-Swiss Cheese burger was delicious, but then so was the regular cheeseburger. They offer something termed a steak burger, more pricey than their hamburger; avoid it. It's literally two small pieces of steak on a hamburger bun, tough and not very tasty, and as a result it was very difficult to eat it in a bun. We had to take the pieces out of the bun and try to cut them up with the available plastic knives. Not a pretty picture. They have a modest selection of beer as well. There are a handful of picnic tables outside, room for kids to run around in the grass, and they are pet-friendly outside. They are not open every day of the week, so check their schedule online before you go. Their latest improvement is a robot that delivers your food to your table. It was entertaining to watch patrons get out of its way as it navigated to its destination table. Customers here are very patient, even when it's very busy. I'll tell you why: great food, always prepared freshly to order. And, yes, they do understand the difference between well done and medium (at least most of the time, so if you want no red or pink be sure to...
Read moreThe Flying Cow was both a disappointment and an embarrassment. As members of a large organization of Ft. Bend residents that I will not name (as my review should not be mistaken as to represent the voice or opinion of the whole organization), a group of us have been on a mission to find the best hamburger in the area. When our turn came up to suggest the next restaurant we would visit, my wife and I suggested The Flying Cow as we have had some mighty fine hamburgers there in the past. We thought it would be a slam dunk, but this proved to be very wrong. In retrospect, during our last visit a month or two ago, when we introduced some other people to the restaurant, both my wife and I noted that our hamburgers were overcooked as did our guests. Based on this and reviews that others had read about the restaurant in anticipation of this judging, we all ordered our hamburgers medium rare.
NOT ONE of our hamburgers showed any signs of pink. As a matter of fact, every single person commented that their hamburgers were either medium well or well done. Additionally, the fries that I was served were apparently the left-overs from the bottom of the basket. With perhaps only three or four exceptions, they were little stubs. I cannot believe that they would serve these tidbits to anyone. Fortunately, the fries that others were served looked better. Again, mine must have been what they were able to scrape together to serve the last order.
I send an email to the owner, advising him of our disappointment, but never received a response. It looks like this one is off the list for our group of burger tasters. I am truly...
