Unfortunately, my family and I had a poor dining experience at Osteria Ama for our Mother's Day dinner. Our negative experience was centered around the poor service given. We noticed the poor service, because it was compared to the table service all around us. These bad experiences included: Lack of any menus or water provided, and our waitress asking us if we were ready to order. No dinner napkins provided, just small bar paper napkins. This is not a problem except everyone else in the dining room had black cloth napkins, and we only had one paper napkin each, so it was not enough. No specials offered or explained, while other tables were dictated the full menu. Our water glasses were not refilled for a long time, until we asked. No pepper or parmesan cheese offered, like with other tables. Messed up my kids' orders switching the proteins for their dishes - no apologies or any offers, just a blank stare from the waitress. Didn't mention what was available for dessert, which was fine since we were ready to leave after a bad meal experience.
It was our first and last time coming here unfortunately. The food was good (not great), but service needs to get much better. I felt bad providing a bad experience for the mother of our family. She...
Read moreI hosted my wife's birthday party here and they knocked it out of the park. There were 8 of us and the worst thing about the whole night was that the specials sounded so good, but there were too many. There were so many we couldn't remember them. The service was wonderful and the meals were outstanding! I had the seared scallops to start and they were AWESOME! Seriously, I wanted to lick the bowl the red pepper sauce was so good. The Ama Caesar was a hit as well and my wife raved about the mushroom soup. They made me a gluten free version of one of the specials that was an incredible seafood filled pasta. Others at the table raved about the chicken parm, risotto porcini, and the short ribs (I think) looked amazing too. The portions were large, but not crazy. We even had some room for their excellent desserts. Our server had to deal with multiple food allergies and did an amazing job. My favorite thing was she didn't just guess, she asked the kitchen and gave us answers. I loved every minute of our meal. Will definitely return when back in the area. If you're in West Chester don't skip because it's just 15 minutes outside town. BYOB is also a nice thing....
Read moreI’ve been to the location in Philly and absolutely loved it. Couldn’t want to go here with family and wow, it was HORRIBLE. The margarita pizza appetizer was totally different than Philly and floppy as can be. The $9 lentil soup was some kind of broth with barely any lentils and whatever lentils there were in the soup completely uncooked. Chicken parm entrees were chewy pieces of chicken. The pasta that came with the chicken was pretty good, but 3 people at the table got the same meal and one person was given less than half the pasta as the other two folks. It’s like they made a certain amount and didn’t distribute it evenly.
Service was beyond slow and I think they may have only had 2 waitresses for the whole restaurant. They offered to bring our toddler’s meal out with the appetizers which I greatly appreciated however they didn’t bring it out until all the other entrees came out, and it was the completely wrong meal.
What I was originally really looking forward to visiting this place outside the city has turned me off so badly with the amount of money we wasted for horrible food and experience and will never be back...
