Harbour Point Shrimp House — Restaurant in Thornton Township

This place is overrated! Today I'd ordered the 2 lb Jumbo Shrimp Special, hush puppies, fried pickles and lobster mac n cheese. First of all, they were too slow possibly due to being short staffed. There are 4 social distancing spots to wait and when it was my turn to step forward, this younger impatient customer attempted to ask the young employee about an order that was sitting on the front counter. I had to stop the employee from acknowledging this other customer because I knew had it been his order, the employee was going to allow this other individual to jump in front of me and we would have had a serious problem. Another employee stepped from the back and when I was asked my name, that employee said, "Yes, your order's BEEN ready'" as if I'd complained to them. I asked the same guy how much was my bill and he tapped up a price and said "$66!" The price when asked on the phone was "About $40." When he re-calculated the order, he said "$41.20" and walked away without collecting the money. WTH? I pulled out $42 and waited. When I got the attention of the first guy, I waved the money and receipt at him, placed the money down on the counter, said "Good afternoon" to the two other customers and left. My order was missing the fried pickles when I got home. The heavily battered shrimp is no better than the other local shrimp restaurants in the area. I've tried the lobster mac n cheese twice in the past because it was recommended and my purchase today for a friend to try...it's not big deal. The mac n cheese can be described better as Fishy Flavored Mac N Cheese and don't expect to see anything that resembles a piece of lobster, so perhaps it's sent through a blender first and added to the cheese. Hush puppies are hush puppies and seldom can restaurants mess those up. I could have done better fast food dining with that $42 and saved your money as well. I'm not steering people away, but I'm not promoting Harbour Point...

Basic at most! I ordered a “Jumbo Chicken Wing Dinner” & 1/2 pounds of JUMBO shrimp…I must say they do live by their promise of “JUMBO” because the wings are huge and the shrimp. The guy at register was not so customer service friendly though could have been a bad day or what ever the case is , See people don’t understand the whole “Customer Service” thing….If you don’t want to be nice fake it until you make it. (LOL) that will run business away! and it takes away from a persons experience. 😒 & I did not get my Cocktail sauce for the shrimp . Things like condiments we shouldn’t have to remind them of as they should already come with my order as I requested them. But I give them 3 stars only because of the potion size I was also out of there in Les than 15 mins. BUT… it’s average tasting at best! I’ll add my photos , BTW I added my own lemon pepper sprinkle on...

Harbor Point had been, at one time, a staple in our home for good seafood at an affordable price. I was too excited when my husband suggested a trip there after not having visited in years. We'll, excitement soon turned to disappointment when we tried the actual food. My usual dish of Buffalo Shrimp and Spinach Pasta was a complete waste. The shrimp was overly coated in a cheap bread crumb, then covered with what I can only explain as a hot sauce mixed with sweet BBQ sauce. The pasta was dry. It was as if they sautéed the dish in water, drained, and said, "Here, take this!." All of it was flavorless. I really don't understand the changes. This cannot to be for cost containment because what would the cost difference be in using actual flour over a dry bread crumb? Sadly, I will probably never be back because honestly, I can make better at home. It wasn't...
