The Local Table — Restaurant in Thousand Oaks

I’ve gone there before many times it’s been delicious. I’ve only gone once or twice when I haven’t enjoyed it but it was most likely the cook at that time. I love their orchetti pasta in cream sauce with mushrooms and peas. I usually ask for the vegis on the side and eat them separately, but I’ve also tried with the vegis in. It is delicious both ways. The pasta is a nice take on a Alfredo but much better in my opinion considering Alfredo is my favorite sauce. They also have delicious pizza. I tried the brisket and we were very disappointed along with the mashed potatoes and broccoli but it may have just been the chef that night as I have stated. Their truffle Mac n cheese is a hit or miss. Truffle is definitely an acquired taste. And it is made with truffle oil. I can’t remember if there is actual truffle in there you can go ahead and ask that yourself. But generally I am very pleased, but I have had a bad experience. Friday nights is when I say go for it, Friday through the weekend. That’s when the food Is best because they have their best chefs cranking out lots of food. Though I did have a waiter that was very cocky especially when it came to wine and was saying a wine that is by no means earthy was earthy. And calling my mom wrong and acted like she was an idiot and knew nothing. Anyway he was very rude and disrespectful to us women, it was on a Wednesday. They have their worst servers work when it’s least busy considering they don’t serve lunch....

on May 27, 2022 we arrived in the Local Table at 6:26pm sitting at a table in the bar area. Cutting it close for Happy hour which we understood we may not get the Happy hour drinks however, we were served our wine at 6:28p by (Derrick). At 6:31p one of the buspersons asked us if we wanted menus, looked at his watch and made it a point happy hour was over brought us regular dinner menus. Then for the next 30 minutes the the bar tender Derrick who apparently is our server never returned though he made plenty of time with folks who came in after us and even uncorked their bottle of wine. Other servers never attempted to help. We had to flag down a server Alexendra who graciously helped us with our order. We ordered two 12 inch pizzas whiched arrived to our table at 6:47p. If after reading this review you still wish to dine here ask for one of Alexendra tables you will receive the best service. Alexendra is the only five star...

The staff there doesn't listen to the customers in anyway. Yesterday my family walked into The Local Table to find no staff in sight. After walking around the bar we finally found two of them hiding in the corner. They quickly sat us and got us our drink orders. Now this is where the service became unbearable. After waiting 30 minutes for our server to return and take our order, I had to track down one of them and inform them that we were ready to order. I then returned to the table and waited for my family for an additional 25 minutes. I then had to track down the same man to give him my card to pay for the drinks so we could leave. Instead of swiping the card he put it on the counter and walked to the back of the restaurant. I then found him sipping a drink at the bar and I had to convince him to finish ringing up the check. This was the worst restaurant server experience I've ever had and I still have no idea how...
