吃海鲜（Kelly’s, Nehalem Bay, Oregon） — Restaurant in Tillamook

This place was soo close to amazing, yet missed the mark by a mile. I just wanted the PNW equivalent to eating Maryland blue crabs on a dock with a beer.

The great: ambiance: wow, on the water, picnic tables, the kitchen is a shack with pots. fresher than fresh: you pick what you want (crabs, clams, or oysters). They pick them love and they cook for you. You then run into the store to pay and get whatever drinks / sides you want. The system is very efficient. location: you just are sitting on the water / dock. It looks like you can catch your own and they will cook as well.

The misses (including the single one that takes it from a 5 to a 1) nickel and dime you: you need to pay for the lemons, the cocktail sauce, the butter - but worst if you are buying raw oysters you need to buy and oyster knife? How hard is it to include a knife just like crackers with the crab? food temp: Argh. This killed me. When they clean the crab they rinse it with cold water. Which turns the freshly cooked, piping hot, amazingly fresh crab into cold crab. Not warm, not room temp, but cold. That is NOT what I want to go with my experience. If the crab had even been warm this would have been 4 stars. If I were to do it again, would suggest asking them to either not clean it and do it myself or to clean and then dunk back in the pots.

Me and my brother stayed in his RV hooked up there, I don't have much experience in the cookery side of things but they provided a full service with the crabs we got on the boat, and enjoyed some oysters and clams later. Felt like a pretty authentic experience.
