Disappointing Experience at a Beloved Family Spot Our family has been coming to this historic and atmospheric crabbing area on the Oregon coast for decades, so we were excited to revisit a place full of memories. We parked on the upper level near the highway and were met immediately by a middle-aged woman walking two off-leash black shepherd-mix dogs. She was notably unfriendly, and since I had my husky with me, we simply continued down toward the benches to avoid any tension.
The setting itself was still as charming as we remembered—quiet, scenic, and filled with a sense of history. Once at the tables, we reminisced about family trips and the many times our relatives had visited this spot. My aunt recalled a man named Archie, a local figure our grandparents had known, and she and my uncle went to find a memorial plaque honoring him.
About ten minutes later, they returned, visibly shaken. Apparently, the same woman we had seen earlier began screaming at them for simply walking across the parking lot—claiming that because they hadn’t reserved an RV spot, they weren’t allowed to be there. This seemed incredibly bizarre, especially considering Oregon's public coastal access laws dating back to 1967.
We decided to leave immediately. As I was loading my dog into the car, the woman followed us and continued yelling and even threatened to call the police for trespassing.
After looking at Yelp reviews, it appears this isn’t an isolated incident. Multiple people have cited the same woman—possibly the owner or manager (I believe her name might be Leah)—as the source of unnecessary hostility. It's incredibly disheartening. This location is a gem with deep local and personal history, but it’s being completely overshadowed by an individual who seems unfit for public-facing responsibilities.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience left a sour taste that we won’t soon forget. This place deserves better stewardship—and so do its visitors.

Read moreI have been thinking about this for the last few hours. I have never witnessed anything like this, and I know I probably won’t write how awful it was to see… I don’t think this does justice to how it was. We are talking 10-15 people that saw this, that everyone came together after trying to figure out why this woman went so crazy and felt horribly for this little girl and family. This family had been there for a while, we were all there…. But here we go…This woman, the owner, yelled at one person about god knows what, but everyone around could hear and see. Then preceded to yell at people that didn’t know where to park, about 5 minutes later. Obviously their first time. But then she came to the fire pit and yelled at a family with a young girl, probably 7 years old. Saying that they were told not to have their daughter play with a metal stick already. Lies. There was an employee that came over earlier, took the metal rod out of the dirt and said he was tossing the wood around in the fire pit. Then said, it’s hot, wait till it cools off. That was it, he walked away. About 10 minutes later this crazy woman comes over screaming at the family. Saying how they need to watch their child. She has 3 kids and would not let them play around. The mom, I assume was talking to another employee, trying to say I’m sorry, that employee kept saying he was sorry. She turned and starting yelling at the mom to stop talking. That they are now trespassing. Calling the cops. Everyone around was shocked at this behavior of this woman. She said she’s the owner. She followed this family to their car, the little girl sobbing. It was an awful experience. We go about 7 times a year. Never again. Like the woman says, go yo Kelly’s if you don’t like this. I have no idea how this place allows this behavior. I just read Yelp, I should have done that before. Side note, all the other staff, they were awesome. FYI. I have videos if anyone...
Read moreI love Jetty Fishery! The staff are so friendly, the seafood so fresh and the outdoor atmosphere is lovely!! I have so many awesome memories of coming here, and I’m so sad to say that I won’t be returning.
The last 2 times we’ve visited we’ve been accosted by some middle aged Karen who can’t help but yell at us! Last July my partner, daughter and I stopped by, to celebrate my partners birthday. After eating lunch my partner walked our dog and while walking him was yelled out by this horrible lady, she even threatened to call the cops on him. Our dog was on a leash, we were walking him on the upper portion by the highway, he can be a jerk sometimes and we made sure that we weren’t disturbing anyone. She came out and confronted my partner, the dog barked as she approached closer to him and then told us she was calling the cops.
Yesterday we stopped by thinking this was just a weird, one off occasion. As soon as we parked the car my partner got out, I was still putting my shoes on, and I could hear her start to yell at him. It’s like she forgot that she ran a business and was surprised to find customers.
We went down to the shop and enjoyed our awesome crab, the ambiance and the friendly staff. When we were done we walked over to check out the RV spots to see what they had to offer. We were considering the space of the lots and wanted to check out the amenities they offered!
This is when things got ridiculous! All of the sudden I see her pop her crabby head out of the third story of the building and, yet again, she starts yelling at us! We were on our way back to our car to leave! But this crabby commandant had to stop what she was doing to yell at us one more time!
The most frustrating part of these recent experiences are that we are left feeling hurt and angry on our drive home instead of the bliss of enjoying delicious crab and a...
