Typical gastro pub attached to a brewery. Small amounts of table space. No handicap access to the patio area meant a long walk for one of those with me.
The server was friendly and prompt with taking our order, but was otherwise slow. Yes, I did have dinner here on a friday, but from what I saw there were only two servers working the patio and it felt like both of them also had tables inside to worry about.
I ordered a draft cocktail, I can't remember the specific name but it had pineapple mango and guava. It was very good, relatively strong, and enjoyable. I would give this an 4 out of 5 stars
We ordered the Bavarian pretzel for the table as an appetizer. We expected a full pretzel, and something roughly 2/3rds the size in a very compact twist shape. It was also covered in what I can only assume was garlic butter. Combined with the pretzel salt this made it way too salty. The mustard was rather bland, and the beer cheese was a spread rather than a dip. Because of this it was unpleasant in texture, and cold which contrasted with the warmth of the pretzel. 3/5 stars
For dinner I had the Brix burger. Beef patty, bacon jam, blue cheese crumbles, a slice of pickled beet, and a slice of beef brisket. The bun looked and tasted like a house made burger bun.
I understand what they were going for with all of these flavors, but it just doesn't come together. For one thing, the brisket slice was sandwiched between the beef patty and the pickled beet. Consequently, the flavor of the brisket was lost in everything else, especially having absorbed some of the juice from the picked beet. The bun also had trouble holding up to the beet juice.
The bacon jam was nice, but was mixed with high quality blue cheese crumbles. I can't believe I can say this, but I couldn't taste bacon there, only the smoky sweetness of the jam on the edges of a blue cheese that overwhelmed it.
All together, the burger was cooked well and had clear direction, but it seems they overshot the number of different flavor profiles by at least a degree.
The fries were good quality and tasty, but could have been crispier.
My dining partner had a sandwich composed of a slice of Brie on a baguette with greens, and a side salad. Their commentary on the sandwich was: enjoyable but not anything extraordinary, and the...
Read moreReturning for a second time to impress a date with the wonderful food here. But it turned into a nightmare as we were greeted by the hostess. She wanted to let us know up front that they were out of chicken, wraps and something else. I didn’t really care since I knew I was getting the Mahi again but this time with the nachos. Then things really started to go downhill from there. After ordering the Mahi, nachos and my date a hamburger, the waitress returned to say they were out of nachos and if I wanted fries instead??? Nacho plate with fries. Doesn’t sound too appetizing to me. Pass please. Then she returned and stated that they were out of rice for the Mahi and started to name off a few things they could replace the rice with. Brussel sprouts, ewe, being one of them. I settled for the vegetable medley. When the plate did arrive it looked awful. The Mahi was in two pieces and the vegetables were a little too over cooked. Asparagus was just thrown on either side of the Mahi. We later heard they were out of Mahi. I must have gotten the last piece. As we sat there, it was overheard that they were running out of hamburgers now as well. Now if this were a late night dinner on a Friday night I could understand somewhat about running out of things. But this was a Sunday afternoon at 4:30 pm on 7-24-22. It may be a while before I return, if ever. Sad, bad experience. Wish my phone had not died just before getting here. The picture could have spoken a thousand words for me. But I will say the Root-beer was excellent.
First time visit here at the Playalinda Brewing Company – Brix Project. What a great place. Didn’t know what to actually order here, so I was offered a sampling of three different drinks from their house crafted beers. I selected a light beer with a slight hint of citrus, wish I could remember the name, will get it again. But the appetizer of the Bavarian Pretzel with grain mustard and beer cheese was amazing. I could eat this all day long. For dinner I had the Pineapple Salsa Mahi Mahi blackened which was out of this world. Once my fork just touched the meal the fish just actually just fell apart. So flakey! It came with a pineapple jalapeno salsa topping over a bed of cilantro lime rice and asparagus surrounding everything. So awesome! Will definitely be...
Read moreMy husband and I were at the beach in the morning and wanted to try a new restaurant in the area so we went to Playlinda Brewing. We got there at 11:35 and it opened at 11:30. We sat down and ordered a root beer and a key lime beer. Shortly after we ordered our entrees and an appetizer all at the same time. We got our appetizer, the corned beef poutine, in a timely manner and it was quite good. While we were waiting for our food my husband ordered one more root beer. Our waitress had stopped by multiple times at this point to tell us that our food would be out soon however we had been waiting an hour and still no entrees. We waved her over and asked if we could just have the check and to cancel the entrees. She said okay and went and got the bill. I know we would have appreciated if she had communicated better. If she had said “ I can get your check but let me go talk to the cooks in the back and see what’s happening” I think we would have felt better served to show that an effort had been made. She brought us out our check with nothing comped off the bill. We didn’t ask for anything for free but we expected maybe one of the $5 root beers to be comped for the extended wait. We were just disappointed because no attempt at customer recovery was made. My husband used to be a cook and would have been understanding if something had happened to hold up the food. Instead we barely got a sorry. I should also mention everyone seated before us had gotten their food along with many people who showed up after us. It’s a shame because we liked the drinks and the food that we did receive and would have tried going back if the guest service was better. However since no attempt was made to recover the situation we do not see ourselves visiting this...
