The food was great! However, I'm sad to say I can't say the same of the ambiance. My husband and I ducked in here for a quick dinner and drink, and within minutes of entering it was very evident we were not wanted. We're from NYC,so we are a little naive about racism, but this restaurant was an unfortunate wake-up call. The owner asked my husband to close the door with a condescending tone marred with disdain. (He did this as we were greeting the bartender; he got out of his seat to tap my husband and demand he close the door; the door which he was right in front of) My husband politely obliged, and we proceeded to sit down and order, but not first without moving away from the owner and his family/local patrons because of how they kept glaring at us. The servers seemed uncomfortable serving us, and we in response were in a haste to finish our meals and leave. The food as stated before was great (the steak dinner was to die for), but the service was unfriendly and to be blunt quite disgusting. At the end of the day like any other patron we paid for our meal, tipped for their troubles, but left with the conviction to write this review and warn others. Places like this should be spoken about to warn others, and to inform the owners that their way of treating people of color will not be ignored...
Read moreWe figured out the front door was on the left and found ourselves in a very low-key local pub. The bartender/waitress was super nice, personable, had a sense of humor and offered a kind smile. The beer was poured just right for an Irish pub. I mean that sincerely. The foam on my husband’s Guinness was an inch thick and just barely over the top of the rim. The food was hands down some of the best we’ve had in the area so far! I didn’t expect that at all! Not a fancy joint, but surely a solid one. If you want ritzy, this isn’t your place. This is where you go for a damn good meal and some real talk. We hung out for an hour after our beers to do work on a computer together in a side room away from the music while we drank our second beer. The waitress left us to it. Not a worry at all. A lot of places will get annoyed at you for that, but she totally got it. Sometimes you need a place to be. This wasn’t a bad one. No pressures...
Read moreMy husband and I were heading to Penn's Peak with a group of friends, so we stopped here for a bite to eat before the show. The waitress was incredibly rude from the start and carried on with the same attitude the whole time we were there. "I only say the beers once so listen up" and this wasn't in a cute funny way. She huffed and puffed like we were some demanding group with insane requests. And the only requests were no onions on one item and someone asked about substituting an item with an item that was an option for someone else at the table. It was like she had to go to a field and harvest a potato and mash it herslef. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the food was decent. Really if it wasn't for the nasty customer service it would at least be a 4 star place. So if you want to feel like you are an inconvenience then this is the...
