Controlled Chaos — Restaurant in Toccoa

If you haven't been to Controlled Chaos, you're missing out on something special — and I'm not just talking about the food. Jacob, the heart behind this small-town BBQ joint, is serving up more than just great eats. Tonight's specials — Chicken Marsala and Chicken Piccata — were nothing short of incredible. Tender, flavorful, and made with the kind of care you just don’t find everywhere. And of course, his smoked pork? Absolutely next-level. But what really sets Controlled Chaos apart is the atmosphere. It’s Christ-centered, welcoming, and full of life. You can feel it the moment you walk in — a sense of purpose and peace that’s as rich as the flavors on the plate. It's clear that the Lord is doing much with Jacob’s “fishes and loaves.” This isn’t just a business; it’s a ministry with a smoker and a side of potatoes. The food was excellent and the service was great. My table tried the bbq sampler with brunswick stew and beans, along with the hamburger steak & onions with cole slaw and fries. While I didn't absolutely love the stew (personal preference, nothing to do with the quality), everything else on my plate was amazing. The bbq chicken is phenomenal, with a preparation that deserves its own feature on one of the food network shows. The coleslaw is FRESHLY MADE TO ORDER, and hand cut. It's fantastic! The brisket is winner-winner beef for dinner, but the pulled pork was absolutely stand-out. This is a can't miss bbq spot--the hamburger steak was also phenomenal, as were the fries. The baked beans are also amazing. I look forward to returning, since I've heard the onion rings are quite good....

Easily the best BBQ in Toccoa!! Call ahead for the best experience for take-out. As of June/ July 2025 they are short-staffed and it shows in the wait time, around 15 mins. Worth the wait though, just as others have mentioned. I hope the owner can be profitable enough to soon make a change to a better location; we would have never known this restaurant existed had we not searched Google maps specifically for BBQ and we only live 15 mins away. It's just not a part of town we ever go through.

Still, even with the wait and the out-of-the-way location, it was definitely worth trying! Next time (and there will most certainly be a next time!) we will call ahead with our take-out order.
