Wild Annie’s. (*note revised see owners reply) First time visit with Office get-together during lunch hour. *Atmosphere: Nestled in the woods just off Hwy 30 in McConnellsburg, it is just a half-hour drive from the Chambersburg area. There are no other distractions nearby. It is a wooden country-style building with an interior filled with homey decorations, carefully curated to not look schlocky. Nice main seating area with two side rooms for groups, one of which opens to outside in summer. Plenty of parking. (*kid friendly). *Food: The food is the best I have had in a long time for the price and setting! All the food appears to be as fresh as possible. Preparation and presentation are very nicely done for a casual atmosphere. Burgers, wraps, either plated or in baskets, are served with crispy vegetables, fries, and other in-house condiments. I had the fish basket, which was two medium thick pieces perfectly cooked without being soggy or dry and wrapped in a dark, crispy brown coating. Fries (coated?) were crisp and not soggy to the end! Both served with fresh in-house tartar or other sauces as requested. Good coffee or other fountain drinks. (* BYOB alcohol no corkage fee). Desserts were certainly not the standard off the shelf type. My Chocolate Torte (*no flour) was smooth, creamy, and dark with a raspberry sauce, certainly in-house crafted! *Prices for the lunch items $10 to $20 dollars or so. Given the quality, it is a steal! *Table Service is medium weight flatware and medium heavy mugs or glasses with good plates and wire baskets. * Serving staff: Only two staff were working the main room, and our side room. Service was friendly and cheerful, well versed in the menu, and willing to accommodate and make suggestions. Kudos! Personally, I was blown away to find such a gem hidden away in the woods! If in Chambersburg, it would stand out like a beacon on the hill! I intend to come back for a dinner service sometime soon! ** I went back for dinner service. Everything I said before applies! I had the steak option, which was wonderful!

This was our first time here. We didn't even know it existed due to being off the main road and out of site. The atmosphere was great and staff were very friendly. There is a patio for dining outside but the weather was too hot for my wife and I so we went with a booth. You know how some restaurants the booth is so tight that you feel like your pushed against the table? Well, out booth had plenty of room and I had to shoot up to get closer to the table (I'm not exactly a small peraon). The started menu was limited and we didn't see anything that jumped out at us so we didnt partake in any appetizers. The menu has mostly sandwiches, salads, wraps and burgers. My wife ordered a beer battered fish sandwich with fries while I ordered the fajita burger with fries. We both had sweet tea. The tea was fresh brewed on site and excellent. My Fajita burger was ordered medium but came out between medium-well and well done (no pink in sight). It is topped with grilled peppers and onions, pepper jack cheese, and a Chipotle lime sauce. If you order this burger, make sure you get extra napkins. It is a little messy but taste excellent.....even with the meat being cooked more than I prefer. I was even tempted i. Getting come of the Chipotle lime sauce to dip the fries. The problem encountered was with my wife's fish sandwich. The fish was overcooked and my wife said there was an unpleasant flavor that she couldn't place and only ate about 1/4 of her sandwich. The menu description said it was beer battered cod with homemade tartar sauce and an old bay sauce. They do have live music from time to time with a band playing later on the evening of our visit. All in all, it was a great place to stop and visit. Even if its harder to see. We will definitely come back again to try some other items from the menu.

I came to Wild Annie's as there was not many spots open in McConnellsburg on a Monday. They had a lot of great reviews for burgers so I figure this is the place for me. Tucked down a dirt road next to the highway, it is a cute down home building. I decided to go with the special, which was their breakfast burger which was two sugar waffles, egg, bacon, cheese and burger. It also came with maple syrup but I asked to hold that. The burger was great, I had to eat it with a fork and knife due to the size. The homemade waffles were bangin and the burger itself was great. I went and there were only a couple people in the restaurant but I have been told service does slow down a good bit if they have a crowd. Would still consider it worthwhile!

We’ve experienced Wild Annie’s before and decided to have our evening meals there again while vacationing with family near Cowans Gap for a long weekend and celebrating a birthday. Our three consecutive meals and the desserts were all very good. However what actually put our dinners over the top was ā€œMaddieā€! She is indeed a keeper! What a pleasure to meet a young person with old school work ethics. Her personality, priceless smile and genuine interaction with our group was honestly a breath of fresh air. Upon our return the second night, she immediately apologized for the service the previous evening explaining the owner had to be away from the restaurant and they had been short staffed. Honestly, our group of eight didn’t even realize there was an issue due to her attentiveness. So, if you’re in the area please give Wild Annie’s a try, say hello to Maddie and Anne Marie who is the wonderful pleasant woman who owns the restaurant and has realized her dream…..and give the crab cakes a try. You won’t be...
