I love El Tipico!!! I’m not used to having options, let alone 4 pages of them 😳 The entire menu can be made gluten free, dairy free, and vegan! And yes, they are educated and trained on celiac disease.. it’s safe for us šŸ˜ā¤ļø I will be dreaming of those chocolate chimis… until we meet again my love 🤧 We love supporting local businesses and families, especially when they’re so inclusive and supportive of our dietary restricted community!! šŸ˜ā¤ļø And speaking of our community, I leave all my reviews on @Fig App @Fig | Gluten Free App to help other people with dairy and gluten restrictions find safe restaurants šŸ„¹ā¤ļø Would you try El Tipico?? šŸ‘€ #celiac #celiacdisease #celiactiktok #glutenfreelife #celiacawareness #autoimmunedisease #spoonielife #spooniesoftiktok #chronicdisease #celiactok #coeliac #coeliacdisease #glutenfreedairyfree #dietaryrestrictions #glutenfree #celiaclife #figpartner

Yeahh…this ā€œburritoā€ was not worth anything remotely close to $12… thanks for ruining my lunch. And why was it so cold and wet? EDIT/REPLY TO MANAGER: that’s very kind of you to offer a refund or other option, but I think you need to fix your online ordering platform - I just double checked and it wouldn’t let me add anything else to a burrito - it says ā€œchoose one fillingā€. I assumed that burrito would still include other normal burrito fillings, especially since I paid two extra bucks for Barbacoa. $10 is so overpriced for one little filling that could potentially just be beans, and an unwrapped tortilla. And please don’t try to argue that a burrito should be wet because I ordered Barbacoa. I’ve never had a greasy wet burrito from chipotle, and they even suck at wrapping burritos. You’re a Mexican restaurant - take some pride in your food and actually wrap your burritos instead of tossing a tortilla on some meat like a blanket. And why was there a dollop of Barbacoa on top like some weird garnish?

We have been guests at El Tipico's for over 30 years. Many of Toledo's family owned restaurants have sadly disappeared over the years. We moved away for a while and recently returned. El Tipico's was one of the first restaurants we wanted to go back to. We were so happy to find that it was not only still in business but is truly better then it has ever been. The food, the fabulous dƩcor and the service have been outstanding. The owner; Dina Villa, attributed a lot of the improvement in the food to switching to organic ingredients which seemed to bring back the original flavor of her families recipes. We're so glad they continue to provide such great Mexican food in this area.

I grew up eating at El Tipico since I was a child, unfortunately, this is not the same El Tipico. My first complaint, as far as service to customers, is their strict requirement of having to make a reservation. I think it’s unbelievable that every patron is REQUIRED to make a reservation. I had to change my reservation three times because I’m from out of town, and I was not able to accurately figure a timeline from picking up family members to go to the restaurant and had to keep changing my reservation to assure we had a table. That was not enjoyable or did it provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience. I ordered the cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. I was asked if I wanted the ā€œtraditional sauceā€ and I agreed yes traditional, but when I received my enchiladas it was more of a Mole sauce on my enchiladas (Very different than the more red chili based sauce). Not enjoyable and not tasty. Also for the price point of the plate these enchiladas were flat there was no cheese filling in the tortilla enchilada and very little cheese on the top of the enchiladas (enchiladas are supposed to be cheesy, You are supposed to get that cheese pull when you cut into that enchilada) the portion of rice was probably a tablespoon (small) and Most of the plate was covered with refried beans (of course the cheapest item to provide ) I understand restaurants are getting hit with higher prices, but don’t jeopardize your patrons satisfaction by cutting back on essential ingredients that make a meal authentic and enjoyable. The restaurant is very nicely decorated , there has been a lot of upgrades since the last time I ate it at El Tipico, which has probably been about 20+ years… but I would rather have the less lackluster atmosphere in exchange for the authentic Mexican food that was offered years ago when Pancho was in charge of the restaurant. Sad when change is not...

First time visiting will also be our last. Saw pretty good reviews and thought it would be convenient after visiting the zoo. Wasn't excessively busy around 2pm on a Saturday but it took at least ten minutes before my wife and two children were seated. That would seem like no wait at all at other times and establishments but there was no one else waiting in front of us and there were plenty of open tables. Maybe we caught them between shifts or short staffed. Either way the service wasn't bad once we got seated but the food was disappointing from the chips and salsa onward. Chips were cold and didn't appear to be home made. Salsa was bland. We were going to try their puffy San Antonio style tacos but they said they were out so we split steak and chicken fajitas and tried one hard shell taco. Flavor wise it wasn't bad but nothing special either. The $18 fajitas had only three small strips of chicken and steak which was underwhelming to say the least. The most disturbing thing however was when we asked for more napkins and went to use one we noticed it had blood on it. No one at our table was bleeding anywhere and we noticed it as soon as we picked up the first napkin after the waitress left. I didn't ask for an explanation as I don't need one since even before that point we already decided we...
