Guy's Pizza — Restaurant in Toledo

New Yorker here, born and bred... that being said, I'm a passionate pizza eater... it's in my DNA. A true measure of a pizzeria is a plain cheese pie, where you can taste the dough, sauce and cheese in its basic form. I didn't order that pie, but instead, I ordered a large Calzone. Why? I was jonesing for one.

Let's start off with basics. A stone lined oven. Old school. A stone oven offers flavors a conveyor belt will never. It takes a proper skillset to successfully manage a stone oven.

The Calzone: The dough was a nice, consistent golden brown on top, dark brown on bottom, offering that "char" taste, without the char. The dough was tender, yet had a good bite and a proper crumb. It was done, from the fold, to the seam. Proper bake time for sure, with good rotation.

The sauce: Balanced. Not too acidic, not to salty, not too sweet. The basil made its presence known, and was on the front, so it lended a nice "bright" and "fresh" taste to it.

The Meats: I ordered mine with ham and bacon. Excellent distribution and portion, there was meat in every bite.

The cheese: A blend of Mozzarella, Provolone and Munster... and that too, evenly distributed with a good portion.

Final verdict: The size of the large Calzone is enough for two meals, the value is on point. Aesthetically, it's beautiful... color, shape, everything. Overall, a mighty fine Calzone. The only thing I would change, is to replace the Munster cheese with Ricotta. The Ricotta, being a sweeter cheese, would cut the saltiness of the ham and bacon, add some creaminess to the other cheeses, and keep the ingredients nice and moist. Add Ricotta, and you would have one stellar product.

Even with the lack of Ricotta, I still give 5 stars, the place is clean, staff friendly, and the other products we purchased were delicious. Plus, local "mom 'n' pop" shop, to which I'll always support... you can "taste...

They refuse to give customers service. Do you like you nuggets burned or soggy? Well here at guys you can have it both ways. Also added bonus of zero flavor .good job. You've been rude to us for the last time. They replied to my comment that I called a day later. They lie. I picked my food up I live right by them and called them two minutes later. I asked why the Nuggets were different they said they have new nuggets I said my child will not eat these theyre half-burned half soggy and they are flavorless I said I will bring the entire order directly back. I just picked them up they knew I was just in there and I would pay the difference for anyting the Nuggets cost 250 I offered to buy a cheese bread which cost 495 and pay the difference they refused they said they would replace the nuggets the Nuggets were awful we were not told that they changed the nuggets and now they want to go online and lie and this is not the first time we've ever called they burned our food we've offered to bring the food back when they burned it when we took it back and they said it wasn't burned even when we posted pictures of a burned Pizza they still denied it was burned. they proved time and time again they don't care about customer service. They care more about getting high in the back and posting social media videos. And God forbid the owner be out of his pills for the day. I am usually a Marcos pizza type of girl through and through but their pizza has been horrible lately and I have heard really good things about this place so I decided to try it, but I was afraid that they couldn't deliver out to Northwood but THEY DO. (Even though honestly the guy who was taking my order was so great and happy if they didn't deliver I was just going to pick it up anyways). We ordered two pizzas, cheese beard, loaded fries, and some Mac n cheese bites. It did take an hour for delivery, but the guy apologized for it ahead of time, and plus I could hear their phone ringing off the hook. The food was super hot, and so good. Huge portions with really good pricing. I can't wait to try other things on their menu. They have officially turned me from a Marcos pizza type of girl, to a Guys pizza type of girl.
