Last weekend -- I believe it was 12/20/14. Anyways, It was a nightmare... Myself, my wife, 2yr old son and 4mo old daughter (asleep the whole time - so we have no complaints on her behalf) arrived, were seated (at least that didn't take TOO long), and waited for far longer than expected to even be acknowledged let alone be asked if we wanted drinks. After that wait of at least 15-20+min, our kids are already "hungry...", so admittedly, we're irritable as-is, but then we finally get to place our drink order, TRIED to place our food order at the same time having already been sat for so long, but the waitress took off pretending not to have heard us make said attempt. Eventually, after another longer-than-typical wait, we received our drinks, and ordered our food. I ordered the chicken enchilada and one tamale on the side, my son -- the grilled cheese kids meal, and my wife -- plain tacos. Waited FOREVER for the food.. about 45min into the wait, the waitress briefly stopped to say "kitchen's a bit backed up, sorry" and ran off before we could respond. Another 25min passed, and one plate at a time, our food was eventually brought out. My son's grilled cheese came first, burnt. A few min later, my wife's tacos came out -- those were acceptable. Another 5 minutes, and eventually I was brought my meal -- incorrect. The "enchilada", NOT chicken of course, was brought out as a flour tortilla filled with sub-TacoBell-quality ground beef in a grease-fluid only, topped with cheese sauce that had obviously solidified from having sat far too long. Having discovered this, I had to wait until both my wife and son were completely finished before finally succeeding in grabbing the attention of our waitress (all our refillable drinks had been empty and ignored for a good while now, by the way). When our waitress finally came back by, I asked her if this was what I had ordered, pointing to the beef enchilada. She said "yes you did". I asked "did I order beef or chicken?" She then looked and said "OH, no no that's wrong, I'll have them make you the chicken one". At that point, I told her we didn't have the time to wait anymore, nor was I going to make my family wait and watch me eat alone, and to just take it back and remove it from our bill. Again, after an absurdly long wait, she returned to say "My boss wouldn't take it off so I had to tell her that 'your enchilada was too dried out', so when the manager comes, just go with that", then she darts off again. In hindsight, I shouldn't have gone along with her excuse, and wouldn't have if we hadn't already spent so much of our evening waiting on them to do their jobs. I'm sure what she really meant was "I want to blame the cooks instead of taking responsibility myself for screwing your order up". At any rate, the food was sub-mediocre, the wait was appallingly long, and the waitresses make up stories to cover for their own incompetence. It's too bad... we had just bought a house very nearby and it would have been nice to have a tolerable Mexican restaurant to go to regularly, but it certainly won't be there. Take it from me -- don't waste your money or time, unless you particularly...
Read moreStopped for a late lunch at about 2:00 in the afternoon. We were the only people sitting in the restaurant, but there were about eight people sitting at the bar. We were seated in given some chips and water and then we waited.... and waited. We ate most of the chips and had drank most of our water when two people came in who were seated right next to us. The waitress set them down with their chips and salsa and took their beverage order and walked past our table twice without looking at us, acknowledging us or saying that she'd be right with us. She wasn't busy and she certainly wasn't stressed and a decent waitress would have at least acknowledged us and the fact that we've been sitting there for probably about 20 minutes waiting. When she went back to get their drink orders we got up and walked out. I wasn't pleased with how we'd been treated but I thought it this rate will be eating our lunch for breakfast tomorrow morning. I won't ever go back to...
Read moreThis is the second time I've been to this location. First was a slow afternoon and I ate in...great service, generous helpings, good food. I was very satisfied.
But I stopped in on a busy Saturday night to place an order to go. I sat at the bar and ordered a beer while I waited....it was a full house. I saw only two servers and the (wonderful) bartender, Sammy.
(As before, the food was great) but I really wanted to shout out to the service tonight. Sammy was obviously in the weeds; many tabs, tables, a mountain of bar dishes, and of course server drink orders...and the POISE and professionalism she maintained the entire time was just incredible. Sweet, smiling, attentive, and ON IT.
I would've come back for the food/portions/prices anyway. But I'll 11/10 come back for Sammy's service. 5 star...
