My wife and I went here when we visited Toledo. I saw a recommendation for it in a post on Reddit. I do remember someone mentioning that the portions were quite large, but I didn't pay enough attention to that comment before ordering. We split a half order of the Sidon mix and it was almost comical how much food we received. Our whole family of 5 which includes teenagers and a young adult could have eaten til we were full and probably still have had a little leftover. Of course this was totally our fault, because we didn't just order the Sidon Mix we also tried all of the Fatayers. The Spinach and Feta, Cheese, and Meat ones are almost tied for 1st place in my book. The plain Spinach one is good, but very tangy. I found myself taking bites of it followed by other foods or dipped in hummus whereas the other 3, I could just munch on. Speaking of hummus, I'm not usually crazy about plain hummus, it is fine, but when I am shopping I pick a flavored one. This is obviously because I had never had freshly made hummus before. I'm not exaggerating when I say Sidon Grill makes the best hummus I have ever had. I honestly didn't think hummus could taste that good. I think it is clear at this point that I was impressed with Sidon and would definitely eat there again the next time I'm nearby, but I will say that not everything impressed me. The Sidon Mix came with a choice of yellow rice or fries. Fries seemed like an odd pairing and the cashier recommended the rice so that's what we got. The rice has some veggies in it, but despite that was just really bland. The dip for the bread, a seasoned olive oil, also had very little flavor. You could easily see all the seasoning in it, we just didn't taste them much at all. Maybe it is the American diet that has me used to more salt in my food, but almost all the dishes we got were noticeably lacking in salt. Great if you are watching your blood pressure, but things cooked with the right amount of salt taste better. Salting after the fact helped, but it's not quite the same. That's just me nitpicking. The food is good as is, I just feel that a little more salt would elevate it. Overall, highly recommended....
Read moreFirst time having Lebanese food, and I was not disappointed!!! The falafel appetizer was a little dry but good flavor. I ordered the Sidon Mixed grill entree and the Sujuk Kabob entree. Both did not disappoint. We also tried the Laziza (apple flavored), which is a soda. Pretty good. Also the Vimto, which tasted like a cross between creme soda with a hint of fruit punch. I hope I can come again in the future. The service works like this: you order at the counter, are given a number, you choose where to sit,and staff have to come find you. It is in my opinion that this should be changed. One, because your server doesn't know who ordered what dish, so they just set it on the table or hope you tell them. Two, we told our server we didn't need any more bread, but another server set one on our table without asking. I didn't mind as it was delicious and warm!!! Our server was new I could tell, because he seemed nervous and looked out of place. The cashier has an overwhelming position, as she is taking orders, answering the phone, answering customer questions, and taking payments. The payment situation was weird. Some customers paid before seating, some afterwards. I think it would be easier for a first time customer like myself, if I can sit down, look at the menu, and decide what I want to eat, instead of standing near the counter trying not to take too long as a line is forming behind me. Also because your server knows you and a connection is made even if it is brief. It's the little things sometimes .... This system works for fast food maybe and a place like Culver's, where workers are not obligated to check in on your dining experience, but for a place like this, customers should get a little more personal attention. The manager did check in on us, which was appreciated. Maybe it was because I had a new server....anyway, like if...
Read moreI liked this place the first time I visited but didn't really like the customer service. I decided to try it again as well as let me friends know how good the food was. Upon returning I was very disappointed. I ordered the homemade special but I don't eat dark meat and asked could the meat be replaced. The server said "I will see if I can "find" you some chicken breast"..and "find" was exactly what he did. The chicken breast was brought to me probably from the day before or longer.. and it was cold in the middle. They acted as if they were doing ME a favor. At this point I don't want the dish at all and asked another server if I could have the hummus and meat my daughter had. I was told "no" and they could just bring me some hummus to eat with that "cold breast" that they "found". I wasn't offered my money back nor allowed to switch out! instead I was ridiculed for not liking the rice dish and was told they've never met anyone who didn't like rice. I was told next time just ask for a sample; which I think is fair, but I was still not allowed to change out my order nor given a refund! Not to mention I was basically forced to take the food with me because they didn't want to waste it. The staff is very rude and unprofessional! I ended up boxing up the food just so they could get out of my face. In my opinion they have a problem with blacks and this is why I was treated this way. They were very accomodating to the other customers who were white. My bread was not replenished as the reviews said theirs were. I will never return to this restaurant again or their store! As well as my friends. I previously had done LOTS of business with them as a grocery store before they opened the restaurant. I had no idea they had a problem with blacks like this or I wouldn't have ever done business with them. Save your money and eat elsewhere if...
