š FRIENDS! bff and I plan a trip to The Legends so I can buy Sees Candy for moms birthday. She ADORES it (and hopefully will share). Off we go! We decide to stop in Tongie aka Tonganoxie (DO NOT SPEED OR COMMIT ANY TRAFFIC INFRACTION-the tongie finest will pull you over!) To eat at our next MEX TREK! Seated immediately in this colorful and artfully placed seating for a small space. The chips and salsa are indeed eyes roll back good. Nice bite and you can see all the ingredients in the salsa. I decide to drink it after making sure no ones looking. Bff chuckles. I actually go through 4 small carafes of salsa. šit's rated #2 of all time-just beyond excellent. The food? Ahhhhhh, well, the food. It's a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. Bland-unless you add the SALSA. I had the combination #1: bean burrito, beef taco and bean burrito. And yes, I'm well aware bean anything IS BLAND. That being said, we've all eaten refried beans that set your taste buds on a happy dance. This was a 2 step. The guacamole was MEH. Nice and chunky but again, no "oh hello" taste to greet me! Our magars were definitely from a plastic bin: watery and devoid of anything remotely tequila. The bathroom is a one person private and very small although exceptionally clean. Service is very friendly and quick. I'll definitely be back but as a take out for chips and the SALSA...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFriday afternoon I called to reserve a table for 12. Lady over the took my reservation so I thought all was good. We get there and part of our party of 12 was already there and informed me they gave our table to another large party. Needless to say I was unhappy.
I asked to speak with manager, told him what I'd done and he says we don't take reservations. I said then why did a girl on the phone today take my information and say great see you at 7. He repeated himself that she was new and didn't know they didn't take reservations. I was pretty steamed.
They split our 6 year olds birthday party of 12 off into 2 tables. We waited probably 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge we were sitting down. Once the waiter came to our tables, I have to say he was part of the night. He was attentive, took our drink orders right away and our food orders came out correctly and promptly. Disappointed in price of a "big beer" but rest of the food prices are like rest of restaurants fair priced.
Fajitas are more peppers and onions then meat. The chimichanga wasn't flavored very well. Enchiladas seemed small (not a lot of filling) tamales were so-so. Burritos were descent sized. Kids menu good, hamburger and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am writing this, as we have eaten here many times in the past and have always been extremely satisfied. However, on this trip, that was not to be the case. My wife had a large margarita, which was extremely weak, compared to El Porto in Lawrence Kansas. For dinner she had a Chile Riano, which was so hot that she could not eat it. I, on the other hand, had a scotch and water, so they say, which was very weak and did not taste like Dewers which I ordered. In fact, the waitress did not even know what a scotch and water was. For dinner I had stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon. The bacon was so overdone that I almost needed to break it with a hammer. Iām not going to detail the other three persons dinners but it was a similar experience. I am writing this as the owner of the restaurant had an excellent thing going sometime ago I would have compared their dinners to anyone in Lawrence or Kansas City. I would certainly like to see them get back to their original recipes and cooking style as they...
