Tacos El Mexicano — Restaurant in Topeka

While heading home to Colorado, my husband and I decided to stop here for lunch. After reading the reviews, we were confident that this restaurant would be good. It wasn't.

The service was poor, the bathroom was dirty, the dining area was in desperate need of a thorough cleaning, and the food was terrible. The food looked and tasted like, but worse, than boxed food you'd buy from the frozen section of the grocery store. The food at Tacos El Mexicano had been way overcooked (in the microwave, I assume). The meat was completely dried out, so much so that it was almost impossible to chew. Not a single bite was good. Everything was flavorless. This was by far the most disappointing dining experience we've ever had.

With several more hours of driving ahead of us, we were very nervous, certain that we would both have food poisoning. Fortunately, we didn't, but we will never visit this restaurant again. If I ever want food from the frozen section, I'll save time and money, and just go to the...

Update 6/27/23 please be more generous with salsa. Ordered 9 tacos to go, recv’d 2 little cups of salsa. 😔Update 7/14/2022- haven’t had a chance to come to Tacos el Mexicano for several months, until today! Sooo delicious! Beef enchiladas and their salsa! The best in town! Service is always top notch!

Update 12/27/2021... since google won’t let me post another review, I’ll give an update. STILL DELICIOUS!! Such great, fresh, consistently well made mexican food. Best in Topeka! What makes them even better?!... The amazing customer service!

So delicious! Pan fried tacos & beef enchiladas are my fav and they are consistently delicious! Delicious fresh salsa! If you’ve never eaten there or if you are just visiting Topeka- you owe to yourself to try this...

Embarrassingly I have ordered over $1200.00 worth of food, to go, from Tacos el Mexicano, for my family since Jan 2024. We love their tacos & enchiladas. Sadly, they can’t get an order right or make sure everything is in the sack before handing it off to the delivery driver. EVERY single time something is missing- EVERY time… a taco, a complete meal, a side of rice, an extra container of salsa that was ordered & paid for. I’ve even tried calling and talking to Veronica or Diana to make sure to double check the order before giving it to the delivery driver, even after talking to them, still something is missing. We ordered to go/delivery again tonight, $60 worth, and we’re missing a side of rice & a side of beans. This was our last...
