Tacos El Sol — Restaurant in Topeka

Edit: while the high quality food and reasonable price point is unchanged, the service has nose-dived. I end up reading my order 2-3 times over the phone (no substitutions), sometimes I get a receipt and others they trash it, and this last time they apparently now charge more for the regular salsa. Really disappointed. If you include salsa and chips in the meal, then build it into the price. I ordered the same sized meal twice this week- once I got it as usual, once they wanted to charge me.

Taco El Sol has been a weekly stop for us for years. However, the last few visits the place, never spotless, has been grimy. There is no attempt to wash the tables between customers and no attempt to keep the floor somewhat presentable during the day. Our last visit there were few customers but every table was dirty. Customers usually bus the tables themselves so all they need to do is come out and wash the tables. The food is still good, but hard to enjoy in these surroundings. My husband has ceased to order the steak burrito, because it has turned into a bean and steak burrito. Half of his last steak burrito was all beans. Something has changed...

I had 2 carne asada tacos, a barbacoa taco and my mom had 3 tamales. All in all, the food was wonderful! We were sad at the recent loss of all of Topeka's Taco Ticos, so we went on a hunt for something better, and we found it! The neighborhood is rough, but it's friendly enough at 3pm! The staff and interior are inviting and the food is amazing! You could definitely tell they used all fresh ingredients! Even though we live on the other side of town, we'll definitely be coming back here! Just wish there was one closer to South Gage!
