Wow. Just wow This is the kind of bakery - coffee shop - ice cream parlor - outside patio- that you would find on the streets of Manhattan or Brooklyn. You certainly don’t expect it in a little town of Alden. But wow was I blown away by the experience.
Let’s start with walking up to the place. The front looks like a beautiful little coffee shop and then there’s like a sub patio that may be closed up for the winter which would provide for some feeling of outdoor seating even when the weather is bad, with beautiful little paintings sayings and nice little half tables.
Then you go in and you see the owners touches from her hand writing on the menus written up on the chalkboards to the way the food is lit and displayed. You can tell it’s family because each of the kids I think we’re behind the counter in the mom working hard greeting customers and taking care of guests.
So let’s get to the most important part, the coffee and the baked goods. They had cookies behind the counter that must’ve been 7 inches in diameter. Pastries and other delights. Then I looked up and saw a $10,000 coffee maker and ask for an espresso. Which up until now, there was only one other place within 10 miles that you get at this level. And most people don’t even know how to use the machine. But instead I got a delicious cup again at the level of quality that you would expect from downtown Chicago or even downtown Venice.
My 16-year-old who came with me to the store said he wanted to try a breakfast sandwich, but it was afternoon - but again they still accommodated use, making the "Broadway" which turns out to be delicious homemade eggs fresh bacon real cheese on your choice of a roll or bagel we tried an everything bagel. And it was fresh and delicious.
I could go rambling on but I’m gonna stop here so that you can try it yourself and enjoy the experience. To say the least I highly recommend this wonderful new...

I moved to Alden fully expecting to spend my mornings making coffee pilgrimages to Williamsville, Hamburg, or--if things got really desperate--Buffalo. Because let's face it: small towns are adorable, but they're not exactly known for serving up killer espresso drinks that don't taste like regret and cardboard.
Enter Alden Bakery and Cafe, the local caffeine oasis that not only exceeded my expectations--it obliterated them with one perfect iced breve latte. And when I say perfect, I mean every single time. I don't have to explain what a breve is. I don't get judgmental looks like I just asked for a cheeseburger taco in a sourdough cup. They just make it--creamy, bold, beautiful--and I sip it like a queen.
My friend from Jacksonville, FL visited and I took her here. She went back to her big ol' city and texted me, genuinely annoyed to wake up in a place that didn't have this café. Big city, no Alden Bakery. Tragic.
As for the baked goods--listen, I'm not your sugar fairy. I've tried a few things and they seemed lovely, but I'm not a sweets person. What I can vouch for are the breakfast sandwiches and bagels. Absolute yes. 10/10 would eat in my car again while pretending I'm not still in my pajamas.
Support local. Sip happy. Bless this little...
Read moreGreat coffee and bakery shop! Lots of choices and their own signature breakfast sandwiches named after the area! Bread choices too! I had a mocha espresso no whipped cream. It was good, a little heavy on the chocolate syrup. I stopped another day, different barista and it was way too sweet from the chocolate syrup. Sandwiches were good. The snickerdoodle cookie was huge, had great texture but too much cream of tartar, so the flavor wasn't as expected but...
