Terra Cotta Coffee House — Restaurant in Town of Alfred

My first time coming back here since college in 2020. Atmosphere is still quaint and quirky, but that's the best thing Terra Cotta has going for it. Food was not great quality, which I don't expect from restaurants, but it was e x t r e m e l y overpriced for what it is. My husband got a burrito, which was about half the size of a burrito at other breakfast places.

Our service was also pretty apathetic -- she was the only one there that morning so we cut her some slack. I ordered a breakfast sandwich but requested no bagel, which in my mind seems pretty straightforward, but this seemed to push her over the edge. She also gave my husband his coffee without a lid on it, which seemed weird to me. She didn't ask whether we were dining in or doing takeout and did our order as takeout, which wasn't a big deal but a little puzzling.

Walked to the Terracotta around 3 pm. Ordered a Thai Curry with chicken not on the online menu. If you are looking for something other than coffee or the usual gluten-rich food, go there in person. The dish I ordered came from the specials. Absolutely delicious!! Currys are usually either too hot or too salty for me, but this dish has just the right amount of sweetness from small pieces of fruit in the very generous vegetable side, just the right amount of piquancy from the sauce and there was quite a bit of the not at all salty shredded chicken. The whole thing was marvelous!! Will come back any day for this wonderful experience. Pricey, but it was worth every penny and there was enough there for 2 small meals....

I usually go to the terra cotta once in a while, whether that will be to grab a bit for myself or with friends, it's a cute and cozy place to relax especially after a long day of school. During the 2021-2022 school semester, I went with a group of friends and order a bahn mi, I never had yet I wanted to try something new. Ps: I loved it, it was delicious and I was glad to try something new.
