First time here was yesterday. It was a 50+ mile almost 90 minute ride to get here. So let’s get the bad out of the way. We were here pretty early. Had to park down the street on the side of the road and hike to the back of the line to get inside. My first picture shows my place in line after standing in it for about 20 minutes. That right there should tell anyone that if there is a line this long, there’s a damn good reason for it! My second picture shows some of the celebrities who’ve stopped by including Jay Leno. My third picture shows the original grill and items used to make the pancakes. Finally after nearly 90 minutes in line which really didn’t seem so long as the line seemed to constantly move, we were seated. Fourth picture shows the simple menu. Our drink order was promptly taken followed by our food order. Of course I had to try grandma Cartwright’s buckwheat pancakes. I paired it with two eggs and two sausage patties. Our meal came within minutes. It was the first time I’ve had buckwheat pancakes. These were no joke! All you can eat with fresh maple syrup. The sausage patties are really good. I’m tempted to say that they’re homemade as they are much larger and thicker than your typical store bought patties. Eggs are eggs and cooked to your liking. After eating, you can take a trip downstairs to the basement and see how the maple syrup is brought inside and even bottled. They also have a small gift shop area. Only true negative about here is that it is cash only. If you forget to bring cash there’s an ATM at the entrance for your convenience with a nominal $2 fee. Ok, now for the 2nd bad thing… they close for the season on April 8th at 2pm. So you only have a few short weeks left to check out this hidden gem or you’ll have to wait...
Read moreI had to drive an hour away from home to find out what the fuss was all about! It's not like the area I live in Western NY doesn't have plenty of sugar shacks but this one comes highly reccomended and it sure was worth the hour drive. My husband and I went on a Friday and we didn't get a early start like we wanted to. We arrived at cartwrights at 1100 AM the huge parking lot was filled but lucky for us we did find a parking spot up front right next to the long sheltered walk to the entrance. I can't say it was a long line waiting for a table but at least 15 people or so we're ahead of us in the line. (Benches available to sit on for those who have mobility problems) the line moved quickly and it was an organized system with the hostess who greets and meets people with a pad of paper in hand and asking how many are in your party.( When you walk in you will notice restrooms also an operation room to observe how cartwrights makes the maple syrup check out the gift shop which offers maple syrup candies t shirts children's items and more) We were seated in the second dining room. This sugar shack is huge with plenty of seating! The waitress came over to our table introduced herself and from their went right onto business. We ordered coffee( delicious) the pancake( all are buck wheat) and sausage meal. 3 pancakes and some nice sized pork sausage. Delicious! Butter maple syrup are provided on the tables. Also it's endless pancakes. Our server took good care of us bringing another steaming plate of pancakes over to us before we finished our first plates. Come hungry!! The cost of the meals were exceptional service was excellent and a wonderful experience! Maple syrup was out...

They Are CASH Only... hut do have ATM on site.
... they just need to create a better line system with pvc...buckets....some ropes or movable pole line dividers and make the line better laid out( maybe wrap around towards the woods and not road & Because there was open parking for regular vechicles & handicapped but ppl were blocking it . Which made it extremely difficult for me being a wheelchair user to find a spot. Plus a handicapped bus parked too close in a non parking spot that made it impossible for me to get in vechical until they moved.
If these parking spots are going to be blocked during busy times perhaps the business could just block them off during peak days and make a line flow area.
Safety of young youth in a parking lot/next to road way...waiting in a long line (over an hour) was a high concern. Although the fact there was a enclosed breezeway with some kid games on wall was very nice.... including them all the way up to end of breeze way would be nice for those with kids and adults alike. A very small feature that helped pass the time and boredom of the 4kidos with me.
A bit disappointed I couldn't go see them downstairs make the maple syrup bc I'm wheelchair bound...but kiddos got to go and fill there own mini jar for $5 which was supper awesomeness.
They have multi bathrooms and wheelchair/baby change area which was supper nice.
Staff was amazing and quick once yah were inside and seated.
There was a mini store to buy away for merchandise...sweaters/hats/ pancake 🥞...
