I want to start off by saying this restaurant was phenomenal. Came in with a large party and everything went beautifully. The food was great, the service was great, the atmosphere was perfect. Really enjoyed my time here and was glad to support a local business. Everybody got different appetizers that were all shared and everything was delicious. Try the burrata, it was soooo good! Everyone’s dinner came out on time and the portions were huge! Not a bad thing to say. Also, one of the best tiramisus I’ve had in a long time, very espresso soaked and not too cakey like most places have nowadays. The waitresses were so kind and super accommodating, we were appreciative of their tip top service with our large party. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very welcoming and comfortable, and everything was very clean. A band started to play while we were there and it was really enjoyable. Also the aesthetics of the restaurant were beautiful, it’s an overall really nice place. Everything went off without a hitch. Can’t wait to visit this place again, it’s a real asset to the community.
That being said, since I have the time I’d like to address some of the negative comments on here after looking through them before I left my own review. First of all, math isn’t difficult, and neither is opening your mouth to ask why you didn’t get your proper change back. And if $10ish breaks the bank, maybe you shouldn’t be ordering out. For those complaining about the price points, the food is literally priced the same as any other restaurant on the same playing field. If I wanted a cheap burger, I would have went to McDonald’s. Also, there are a lot of restaurants that put “market price” for steaks as well as seafood so not sure what restaurants other than maybe a franchise these people are eating at. To the food snobs, go to the city if you want fancy schmancy food where you can pay fancy schmancy prices. Another thing, my wine was served in a stemless wine glass, however I didn’t come here for wine, I came for steaks so figure that one out. I also didn’t come for a free meal over a total accident. To the guy who responded to the review response, in all caps nonetheless…I think your review speaks for itself. How could anybody know to fix a mistake that was made it you don’t tell them? TELEPATHY??? Also about the mask thing, I give you zero stars for probably being one of those people who wear a mask in their car by themself. I also love how someone else reviewed the place without ever having been there, I could have only imagined this person would have been a total joy to serve if he had actually dined here. And when I go to a restaurant, I expect other people to be there whether or not they are loud. Can’t fault the establishment for other diner’s level of volume. And for the ones who came and left one or two stars without even explaining why, why even bother?
Anyways, sorry to roast some of the previous reviewers, but you can’t fix stupid I guess. I hate to see a great place get bad reviews from people who could have addressed these issues with the restaurant directly so they can remedy whatever it was. Hope to see this place grow and add to a community that so desperately needed this type of...
Read moreWe were happy to see a new restaurant nearby, especially since the building had been empty for many years. Our first visit was yesterday and it will likely be our last. The first surprise is that most staff don't wear masks. Luckily our waitress did. They have a sign on the door saying that the governor of New York has a mask mandate in place, but that the County Commissioner was not enforcing it, so the restaurant said it was optional. Pandemic Health & Safety: Zero stars . The service was very good *. The ambiance of the place is a mixed bag. If you are looking for a place with a nice bar, with sports on TV etc. it is great. The noise from the bar and the loud music over it all makes it a bit as if you are in a bar, even if you are in the dining room. Ambiance: . The food was acceptable. The prime rib was big and generous, cooked medium well as ordered. The lamb chops were too rare, and outright cold. Both dishes were precooked and then heated, browned in the pan. The prime rib tasted good but was lukewarm. The backed potato was perfect. Food quality: *. Price/Value: * Unlike some reviews on this forum, we did not feel that it was overly expensive. The portions were generous and the meals include salad and a side, which is more than most steakhouses which charge extra. However, since the the meat was not cooked fresh, the value is diminished. Overall, that averages to 2.5 so I rounded up to *. Even though we like dining out, and we live nearby, there is not sufficient draw to bring us back, unless things change. This is more of a sports bar than a fine dining establishment.THIS WAS ADDED AFTER READING THE DEFENSIVE COMMENT BY THE GENERAL MANAGER: THE IMPLICATION IS THAT SOMEHOW THE GUEST IS RESPONSIBLE TO MAKE COMPLAINTS ON THE SPOT. NO! IT'S NOT THE GUESTS RESPONSIBILITY TO CONFRONT PROBLEMS WITH THE RESTAURANT MANAGEMENT. DOING SO OFTEN CAUSES A SCENE AND CREATES BAD RESPONSES. WE NEVER SEND FOOD BACK FOR VERY GOOD REASONS. YOU NEVER KNOW HOW THE KITCHEN WILL REACT, AND GUESTS KNOW THAT ONCE THEIR FOOD IS OUT OF SIGHT, WE CAN BE RETALIATED AGAINST BY ANGRY STAFF. THIS BLAMING OF THE GUEST IS INDICATIVE OF THE CORE PROBLEM. READ THE OWNER'S RESPONSES HERE FROM VARIOUS COMPLAINTS. THEY SHIFT THE BLAME AND MAKE THEMSELVES OUT BLAMELESS. ITS PLAIN OUT DENIAL. IF THIS RESTAURANT TOOK BETTER CARE OF QUALITY CONTROL BEFORE THE FOOD COMES OUT, THE GUEST WOULD NOT HAVE TO BE IN A POSITION TO COMPLAIN. THE FACT IS THAT THE PRICE/VALUE/QUALITY RELATIONSHIP OF THIS RESTAURANT IS VERY POOR. INSTEAD OF FIRING BACK AT GUESTS, THEY SHOULD TAKE A GOOD LONG LOOK AT THEIR...
Read moreLiving in Poughquag for almost 24 years, we used to go to this restaurant when it was Ramblers Rest and loved it. We are so happy that it has reopened! The manager, Gina, was an absolute sweetheart and the atmosphere was terrific. Servers were polite and courteous, and pretty attentive considering it was opening night for the public.
The breadbasket to start was not great. Bread was sparse and too stiff. Needed to have that crusty outside and soft, chewy inside and more bread in the basket.
We had three plates. First was the short rib dinner. Potato fingerlings were nicely done but the short ribs themselves were very fatty. I’m sure it was just one particular plate of them. Second, was a short rib burger which had a cherry pepper tapenade which was very spicy! (My own fault bc I don’t care for overly spicy foods, but ordered it anyway). The rib meat was nicely cooked though! The bun was a hard roll which kind of fell apart while eating. A nice brioche bun would have been perfect with this burger. The fries? Eh. Very similar to McDonalds type. I was hoping for a hearty steak fry. The third plate was the station burger. Again, burger itself was nicely cooked but the bun and fries need changing.
All in all, food was ok. Atmosphere was very nice and welcoming. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We will totally go back again because it was only the first night and everyone deserves a break in period when starting a new restaurant and because, again, the staff was great. Additionally, we like supporting our local businesses. I just hope they will consider some of these suggestions. If they do, we will be visiting and /or ordering take out regularly. We wish the very best to the...
