I have lived near this diner for over 9 years now. Although I pass it often, there is something about the dark curtains that seem to be always closed that was not inviting. Perhaps it's just me, but I like to look in a restaurant and see people laughing and enjoying their meal. I digress. My wife and I met another couple there at their suggestion. Immediately upon entering, I was impressed by the ambiance and warm greetings. Because all of us, for one reason or another, we're cooties adverse we a asked to be seated away from what seemed to be a cluster of people. Perhaps that is easier for the wait staff. Our request was honored with ease since this place is deceptively large. I ordered my "test meal", chicken parm with spaghetti 🍝, extra sauce. I posit that this is so basic that if any restaurant can't make that plate well, the prognosis is negative for anything more complicated. Also ordered was a BLT and a Cobb salad. The service was very good 👍🏽 food presentation was excellent, and there was a good time had by all. The BLT and the Cobb salad got thumbs up 👍🏽. I liked the flavor of my chicken 🐔 parm also. Bland food is a problem in this area. My only slight complaint is that my chicken breast was appropriately thick but slightly overcooked. NOT A DEAL BREAKER AT ALL. I would rather have a thicker cut that was a little dry than the thin cutlets that are being floated as an adequate meal. The bathroom was clean and odor free. I absolutely would return...
Read moreI wish I could give this place 5 starts but the experience with our server, Christina, was less than desirable. Christina was visibly pregnant and I initially chalked it up to her not feeling well, however the way she interacted with my table was very different than the way she interacted with guests at her other tables. The only visible difference between the tables was we were not White. Christina was extremely rude. She threw the straws on the table and even snatched the menu out of my hand which prompted me to ask her “are you okay?” and her response was “yup”. After paying I asked to speak with the manager, Peter. I informed Peter that Christina was extremely rude. His response was “okay” and never inquired about what happened. This was my first time at this diner and although the food was great this experience was enough for me to never return. It’s unfortunate because everyone besides Christina and Peter were...
Read moreBeekman Square Diner is our go-to for breakfast or when we can't decide what we want to eat. Their breakfast options are affordable, and the rest of their menu is plentiful. Whatever you are in the mood for, Beekman has it and does it well.
My usual breakfast is an omlette. My husband loves The Square Breakfast. We just recently went for lunch, he had a Cobb salad which he enjoyed and I had a bacon grilled cheese with tomato soup. We've had many appetizers including the calamari, nachos, disco fries and chili cheese fries. We've also had burgers, sandwiches and entrees from the menu, all truly delicious. Beekman Square Diner offers specialty coffees, milkshakes and of course a well stocked dessert case. We have never sent anything back because everything is delicious. Every server we have had is kind and speedy, even on the busy weekends. I don't think we've ever had to wait to be seated either, which...
