Mickster's — Restaurant in Town of Belle Plaine

Busy early Friday evening. Bartender/owner prompt with drinks. Bartender Mariah took our food order. The wait was a bit long, but well worth it. I ordered lake perch w fries, and baked beans, slaw, and rye bread were included. The beans were delicious! The perch was good, too. Fries and bread were average, but who orders perch for the fries and bread? The slaw was a bit too mayo heavy for me BUT I am not at all a huge fan of anything with mayo. My companions have been visiting this place for ages and they enjoyed every last bite of their fish dinners. Good service, family friendly crowd (it was early evening), and yummy food. I image it is a beautiful area, but by 530pm on Nov 30 it is pitch dark outside, so I will have to be sure to visit in daylight and catch the scenery....

They do have a great view and good food. But I was in there last night and the owner's wife gave away my food, the bartender was drunk and closed up the boxes to give them to me anyway after anybody was eating it already. The owner's wife didn't apologize but got mad at me like it was my fault, was going to make more meaning half of my order would have been cold. She didn't even want to compensate me or give me a drink while I waited for everything to be done and told me to get out of the bar and I already was there a half an hour. I'm sorry but I was taught the customer is right and to apologize for the mistake, and I could not get that. Even the workers at Texas Rode House, Applebee's or any other restaurants would do that. But yes they do have good food but I choose pretty much...

We live north of there about 20 miles but decided to head down for some food after a visit to Butch's Archery (great place). They at Butch's advised us to go to the bar before Mickster's...we should have listened. Was a nice day, the outside seating was great. Comfy bar. Not crowded at all. Right next to a boat landing. Beautiful. But.....service was horrible. The worst. And we are not tourists. The bartender (we'll call her "Al") was too busy telling the locals she "didn't have a bra on and not to stare at her brights." Over and over. Ok, whatever. We ordered food, and waited for at least 45 minutes. The cook was too busy flirting with the old guy at the end of the bar by the kitchen to cook I guess.
