Went to Loughran’s for the first time and we LOVED it! My husband and I were looking to have some steak. The waitress that took our order was very friendly and was able to converse with a smile and make fun small talk even with my 9 year old son. We looked over the menu. We didn’t get steak. We both had Irish Fare. I started out with a girly Adult drink the basic Malibu and coke. It was not weak and they added a nice slice of lime on the rim of the glass. My husband and son both had cokes. The waitress brought us each a nice cold glass of water with fresh lemon as well. We started with the Seafood cakes. We were pleasantly surprised how good these cakes were. The sauce that were over the seafood cakes was soooo good. The cakes had chunks of crab, shrimp and scallops. The outside was crispy not mushy which is a plus. They taste fresh no fishy flavor which was a plus, plus. For dinner I ordered the Shepard’s Pie, my husband ordered the Fish and chips, son Mozzarella sticks lol. All three of us enjoyed our meals. I enjoyed my husbands fish and chips as the fish was cut a bit thicker not the ordinary flat filet you would get at other restaurants or out of a box. The beer batter was thick and tasty. He loved it I loved it. The fish was lite and flakey. We enjoyed the tarter sauce that came along with it and the little lemon wedge. Just yum! My Shepard’s pie had great consistency the gravy was thick and had large chunks of meat. Mashed potatoes on top. I wish they had broiled the top of the potatoes so they were a little brown. They slathered red skin mashed potatoes on top without broiling which I’m used to the bits of brown on top. That aside the flavor was real good. It wasn’t greasy at all like some other places I have been to. Great flavor and VERY FILLING! My sons mozzarella sticks were just that. He loved the extra stretchy cheese 😁 The dinning room was set off to the left of the entrance and the bar separated to the right of the building. They do have outdoor seating but you have to walk through the bar to get to it. Very layer back and welcoming place to eat with family and friends. I highly...
Read moreWe recently visited Longhand Irish Pub after hearing a lot of great things on social media. Overall, the experience was mixed.
The food was decent, I ordered the slow-cooked prime rib special, as did my husband. He enjoyed his, but I found mine to be rather bland. The special was advertised as $21, but we were charged $35, which was a bit disappointing. My son, however, really enjoyed his burger, and the teriyaki wings that were recommended were a big hit with my family. Unfortunately, the steak-cut fries were dry and not very flavorful, and the fountain drinks (both water and soda) had a strong sulfur taste, which was off-putting.
One major positive was our waitress/bartender, she was absolutely top-notch. Friendly, attentive, and patient, she went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of, even switching out drinks multiple times until I found something I liked.
One thing I do have to mention is that when we first walked in, we were met with some uncomfortable stares from other patrons, which made my family uneasy. Thankfully, by the time we left, the atmosphere had warmed up, largely due to my husband’s efforts to break the ice.
Later that night, I did end up feeling very sick. I’m attributing it to a bad gallbladder rather than the food, but it still put a damper on the evening.
In the end, while there were some highlights (especially the service and the wings), the overall experience didn’t fully live up to the hype for us. I’m glad we tried it, but I’m not sure...
Read moreLoughran's is an all cash bar and restaurant. If you forget; however, they do have an ATM as soon as you walk in the door. The decor in the restaurant side is ok. Its nothing special, interesting or of note. It could be categorized as pretty plain Jane with some picture haphazardly placed on the walls. If it didnt say Irish Pub on the outside of the building, I wouldnt have guessed that at all. I ordered a chicken parmesan with angel hair pasta. My husband ordered the prime rib. I do have to mention that the portions are very large. I only ate about a third of my meal and my husband had about half of his. The chicken parm had lots of cheese and seemed appropriately flavored with a nice crunch breading outside but moist chicken on the inside. The sauce is a more chucky type sauce with chunks of tomato and onion which I promptly scraped off (I grew up with real Italian, from southern Italy, parents who make real smooth spaghetti sauce). The prime rib could have had more flavor to it but my huband made it work with some creamy horseradish and aus jus. The pricing wasnt out of the ordinary for the portion size. We had mozzarella sticks for an appetizer and that was $12 for about 6. The prime rib was about $29 and I think the chicken was $18. The meal was ok. I've had better and I've had worse. Nothing really wow'd me about this place but I wasnt totally...
